Other things to note For Balloon Fiesta Guests (first two weekends of October and the week in between) you are 15 minutes from the Balloon Fiesta Park. Plan on getting up REALLY EARLY--and be out on the field by 6 AM to see the whole thing. It's over by 9:00, and I can give you lots of ideas of things to do around Albuquerque and Santa Fe when the balloons are off and away. Don't miss going to an evening Balloon After Glo, which looks like so many lit jack-o-lanterns on the ground. New Mexico is an outdoor state, and there are wonderful hikes not far away, Indian ruins to explore, and Feast Days at the Pueblos if you time it right with your visit. You'll need to check to make sure they are open. There is a wonderful Albuquerque Trolley Tour that starts in Old Town. Reservations required. 90 minutes. It gives you a look at the parts of ABQ and its history as well as driving by location sites for "Breaking Bad" and other movie/TV shows you'll know.
