This very pretty condo, Hono Kai B-17, has an especially tranquil ambience with its second story views that make it seem you’re settling into the leafy green tree-tops. Explore Maui, yes, but you will also enjoy returning home to unwind after a day of activity; the bedroom is lovely and tranquil with a queen bed, ceiling fan and AC; it is open to the living area, or can be closed via the shoji doors. The living room has a sleeper sofa, ceiling fan and flat screen TV with complimentary cable. (High-speed internet and free WIFI are included.) The bathroom is recently remodeled and keeps the peaceful vibe going with a marble tiled walk-in shower and pretty vanity. Make meals in the full kitchen or on the property’s gas grills and enjoy them inside or out. Outside, the grounds are meticulously maintained; be on the lookout for banana plants, they are tucked in here and there in the tropically planted landscape. The pool is beachfront and has great views of that quiet, white-sanded strip, with a scattering of swimmers, snorkelers and body-surfers—and probably a few Honu (giant sea turtles) as well; and Ma’alaea Bay with its busy harbor boats to-and-fro-ing adventuresome snorkelers, snuba divers, and folks on romantic sunset cruises, and the like. From December to mid-April the Humpback Whales arrive to give birth to their calves; you can book a whale watch trip that leaves from the harbor, a 15-minute walk away—or you can see them right from the Hono Kai beachfront. They are magnificent creatures that seem to help one put things in perspective. Also oceanfront are gas grills and lines of lounge chairs; both conducive to socializing with fellow folks on vacation. Nearby are a couple of places you can walk to and worthy of exploration. A short jaunt to the east is the beginning of a 2.5-mile beachcombing walk named Sugar Beach. It extends all the way to Kihei. To the west, about a 15-minute walk, is Ma’alaea Village with the harbor (as mentioned above), restaurants, shops, and the Maui Aquarium. The condo is completely furnished including linens, beach towels, and telephone with answering machine. Plus, it’s so convenient to have laundry facilities on-site and free parking. Completely furnished including linens, towels, telephone, answering machine, TV, AC, and laundry rooms on every floor. Parking is free. There are no elevators at this resort.
