WELCOME TO JEWEL OF KEOKEA MAUI Enjoy bed and breakfast in a tranquil setting on the slopes of Haleakala in upcountry Kula on Maui. Jewel of Keokea is a private contemporary guest-suite on the mountain where a unique experience awaits you. Within walking distance of a sleepy rural outpost, Keokea town is located at an elevation of 2,860 feet above sea level. A perfect place to plan your island adventures. Perfect for a long weekend away, family holiday or a honeymoon, the property provides a perfect departure point for all your island requirements. Conveniently located off the Kula Highway, Jewel of Keokea is the perfect place to access all of the great things to do and see all around the “Valley Isle.” As the locals proudly state, “Mauka to Makai” which translates to “Mountain to the Ocean” in Hawaiian, every road and every path eventually leads to a beach, a rain forest, or on top of a mountain like Haleakala. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast on the garden patio, prepare your own, or order in from Grandma's Coffee House menu of local favorite dishes, pastries and gourmet coffee. The Guest-suite with private entrance offers a contemporary modern design interior with full bathroom, kitchenette, dining table and cooking essentials. The orchid patio garden offers a private hideaway where you can relax and lounge, enjoy the outside dining area and prepare and cook meals or barbecue on the grill. Keokea's manager is available 24/7 THINGS TO DO DURING YOUR STAY You need much more than five perfect days to spend on Maui! But, if your time is short, you can choose from a long list of activities to enjoy a perfect island vacation. Golden beaches give way to rolling hills and the misty mountain as you ascend into Upcountry Maui, which is located on the higher elevations surrounding Haleakala’s volcanic crater―Maui island’s highest peak. Maui’s Upcountry area is comprised of Keokea, Kula, Makawao, Pukalani and Haliimaile. Each of these communities has its own distinct identity, making Upcountry Maui a diverse place to live and for visitors to explore. From your doorstep in Keokea―a favorite among the local residents is Thompson Road―the best spot on Maui for an early morning jog or exhilarating walk. Begin with tea or coffee from Grandma's Coffee House, it’s about a 3-mile round trip with incredible vistas everywhere you look. Bordered by lush green pastures and historic lava rock walls, Thompson Road offers epic views that stretch from the Makena shoreline nearly 3,000 feet below, all the way to the summit of Haleakala Crater. Within walking distance, Thompson Ranch and Riding Stables offers a riding experience through eucalyptus forests and green pastures with breathtaking views of the neighbor islands. Family owned and operated, the Thompson family promises a riding experience to remember. For an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience, you can have a tandem flight hosted by Proflyght Paragliding, the oldest and only full-time paragliding school in Hawaii. Visiting Pilots will love flying on Maui, and for the family, flying tandem with a certified instructor is a great way to experience the thrill of paragliding. Afterwards, you can treat yourself to all-things ‘lavender’ at the nearby Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm―all within a 2-7 min drive. A French-style bistro and patisserie in scenic Upcountry, La Provence gives you gourmet cuisine with casual surroundings and the ambiance of a French garden with panoramic views. La Provence has been here since 2003, but is mostly only known to Maui residents, and few tourists find it. When they do, they are delighted with the delicious French baked goods, breakfast crepes, lunch sandwiches, and wonderful dessert pastries. Public transportation on Maui is not recommended. To experience the island renting a car for for vacation is advised. While you plan your days adventure, enjoy a complimentary breakfast on the patio of organic coffee, tees, local fresh fruits, breakfast cereals, granola and fresh pastries. If you would like to order breakfast from Grandma's Coffee House Menu, featuring local favorite dishes, you can arrange with your host for delivery to your guest-suite.
