Montauk Rainforest Retreat

Relax in the secluded tropical rain forest gardens of Montauk Rainforest Retreat. Our private studio apartment has views to the Coral Sea and is located on acreage in the foothills of the MacAlister Range which runs behind Cairn's most popular northern beaches. We live in a quiet neighbourhood centrally located to the popular attractions of Cairns, Port Douglas and the Daintree and Kuranda and the Atherton Tablelands. Our fully furnished apartment allows you to relax and explore in comfort. The space Our apartment is part of our home located in established tropical gardens with views to the sea and to the surrounding bush land. We back onto the state forest and the truly adventurous could make their way up to Black Mountain Road and onto Kuranda. You have a private entrance which is accessed from a path that leads from the car port parking area. Another door opens onto the large veranda and BBQ area. The studio is furnished with a queen bed, sofa bed (note that sofa bed will use the available lounge area if used by a second or third guest) and dining table and is all at ground level. It is ideally suite to singles and couples. The kitchenette is fitted out with a glass electric cook-top, range-hood, double bowl sink, toaster and kettle. We provide tea, coffee, milk, bread and cereal to kick-start your stay. A front loading washing machine is installed in the kitchenette which is useful for longer stays and we have drying facilities. Adjacent is a full size fridge and microwave oven. The spacious ensuite has a large shower cubicle, vanity and toilet suite and is lit from the window and glass door that leads to our side garden. The walk-in wardrobe and dressing room is accessed off the ensuite and provides ample room for your belongings. The unit is air conditioned and has ceiling fans. The bathroom and kitchen are exhausted to outside which is an important consideration in the tropics. All openings are screened. Guest access The gardens surround three sides of the unit and are available for you to enjoy. We water the gardens most days and also use and maintain the herb garden which you are welcome to use when you prepare your own meals. We have no close neighbours, fencing or pets but the local wildlife will pass through regularly, particularly the wallabies and scrub turkeys and many other birds and butterflies. We are two kilometres from the beach and ride our bikes there frequently. The bus stop is 1.5klm away on the main highway which leads to Smithfield shopping centre (10min by car), Cairns airport (25min) and Cairns (30min) to the south and to Palm Cove (7min) and Port Douglas (45min) to the north. Clifton Beach shopping centre is a couple of kilometres up the highway where you will find Coles, Target, a chemist and other shops and restaurants. There are numerous restaurants on the northern beaches particularly at Palm Cove and Trinity Beach. Coco Mojo is just down the road near the beach. We provide some essentials for a complimentary breakfast on arrival. We would recommend that you have your own vehicle for convenience but you can just chill out on the property if that's what you desire. Other things to note We can accommodate larger vehicles, trailers and boats if required.
