Spacious 4 Bed, 2.5 Bath, Tropical Yard, Lanai views of Mauna Kea & Hilo. Sleeps 10 (beds for 7 adults, plus inflatable queen and floor futons for kids). The main living area is on the second floor, which is common in Hawai'i to catch the island breezes. First floor is less finished space, with laundry, ping-pong, & half bath. Please note: 1 full bath is a hall bath; 1 full bath is ensuite attached to a bedroom with a twin bed; and the half bath is located on the first floor basement level. E komo mai (welcome) to this traditional 1940s Hawaiian home in Hilo; the cultural center of the island of Hawai’i. This home was designed to be a gathering place! The best areas for gathering are the spacious lanai, bright large kitchen, and the downstairs "rumpus" room with a ping-pong table. We even have a treehouse in the backyard, which children are free to enjoy (with parental supervision of course :) We supply a washer, dryer, crisp clean linens, towels, shampoo, soaps, hanger, hairdryers, pack-n-play, beach towels, and beach chairs. We take pride in ensuring you have all amenities for a great stay. So, please call or text immediately if you can't find something you need! The house is located in the waterfall district of Hilo, near Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots. It is about 10-15 minutes drive from farmers markets, Hilo Bay, multiple beachfront parks, the Tsunami Museum, Waterfalls, Astronomy Center and so mush more! We are Superhosts and love extending Aloha to all of our guests. Come let us earn your 5 star review! But before you choose our home, please understand that our house is a sugar plantation era home. So, please do not rent this house if you prefer a resort-style experience. Traditional Hawai'ian homes (including ours) have more limited indoor living room space that mainland homes. Our indoor living room includes a sofa and chair around a coffee table, a round table seating 4 people, TV, and two moveable child-size bean bag chairs. Like most plantation-era homes, our house does not have AC or heat. Temperatures range from the mid-60s most nights to the mid-80s most days. We provide ceiling fans and extra blankets to keep guests comfortable. You should expect to encounter island "friends" outside--and inside--the house. For example, you will probably see a gecko scooting across the floor or clinging to a wall. Termites constantly nibble old woodwork, and they can leave harmless piles of red wood droppings--sometimes in just a few hours! We just sweep them into the trash bin and continue enjoying the day :) We have regular treatments to minimize the indoor presence of these island critter friends. And please rest assured that none of these critters are harmful. But you will encounter them. They are just part of real island life! Guests have access to the whole property and any fresh fruits growing I am available 24/7 by text and email There are neighbors so we ask not to speed and keep the noise down after 8:00PM Car or Taxi "Resort fee" is how Airbnb collects the 14% for state and local transient tax.
