This private house is 1/2 of a duplex and is perfect for families or groups. It is located adjacent to the river and you will enjoy the relaxing sounds of the water from the house. This house includes a full private kitchen and a private bathroom. This house is off-the-grid. Being off-the-grid means that we get all of our electricity from the sun and all of our water is collected from the rain. We are not connected to the island's grid power system. Our solar panels charge a large bank of deep cycle batteries all day in order for us to have power around the clock. Guests are asked not to use any appliances that generate heat from electricity (such as toasters, hair dryers, curling irons, etc...) as they consume too much energy for an off-grid power system. Private Kitchen, Private Living Room, Private Dining Room, Private Bathroom, Shared Waterfall Swimming Area, Shared Gill Area, and Grounds The second apartment unit in this house is sometimes occupied by the property owner. The owner (if present) prefers to allow guests to initiate any contact so they may interact at their own comfort level. We are easily accessible to all the Big Island attractions such as Volcanoes National Park (1 hour South), Waipio Valley (1 hour North), and the countless sights and adventures along the Hamakua Coast, the Hamakua House is the perfect location to base your Big Island adventure vacation. The legendary Akaka Falls State Park is only 4 miles away from the Hamakua House. Onomea Bay is only 4 miles away, which is the home of the Hawaii Botanical Gardens. It is an unforgettable drive to get there and the bay is a wonderful place to have a picnic. We are only 1 mile (easily walkable) from the quaint main street of Honomu, HI. This town was established in the sugar cane plantation era and remains today boasting some wonderful gift shops, two restaurants, a coffee house, and the Island's best Zip Line Tours. Search the web for the Hele-On Bus. Give them a call for specifics on using public transit on the island. We are a 1 mile walk from the Honomu bus stop. The building containing this rental is a duplex (2 apartment units). There is a shared wall with the other unit. Regulatory Note: This is a hosted rental and is not subject to Hawaii County Bill 108.
