Just steps from the water, Aloha Cottages are the quintessential oceanfront accommodations - comfy furniture, wide plank wood floors, warm salt air breezes, and ocean views to soothe the soul. The front porch of Sunrise Cottage is a favorite spot for watching the ocean's changing moods. A blend of east coast Cape Cod and Hawaiian plantation styles, our vintage cottages are spacious and light with simple furnishings - everything you will need for a relaxing, rejuvenating Kauai get-away. TVNC 1310 *CoronaVirus Update:* There are no domestic travel restrictions to Hawaii. No documentation or quarantine is required for domestic travel to Hawaii and interisland travel within Hawaii, effective March 26, 2022. 2 Charming Oceanfront Cottages; Sunrise Cottage 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6), Sleeps 8 with detached Moonrise Studio Cottage. The entire property is yours! THE INTERIOR: French doors and large picture windows in the living/dining room of the main house afford panoramic ocean views. Two of the three bedrooms have queen-size beds and the same unforgettable ocean view. The third bedroom, furnished with two twin beds (optional King upon request), is a quiet retreat. Sunrise Cottage comfortably accommodates up to six people. Moonrise Studio Cottage is its own separate studio on the property, sleeping 2 with a full bath and convenience kitchen. A total of up to 8 people in both cottages (4 bedrooms/3 baths). The layout is perfect for a group of friends or a multi-generational family gathering. Recently remodeled Moonrise Guest Cottage has oodles of charm with a bamboo canopy bed and peek-a-boo ocean view. The open, white interior is accented with soothing ocean blues for a fun, tropical ambience. A spacious food prep area (with refrigerator/freezer, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, microwave) is perfect for simple meals, along with the large outdoor stainless-steel grill with propane side burner. The beautifully remodeled kitchen of the main house offers gourmet cooks as well as microwavers a spectacular ocean view. The stainless-steel countertop, checkerboard floor, and glass front cabinets are reminiscent of vintage cottage decor. The upgraded appliances and granite-topped peninsula make it a cook's dream. THE AMENITIES: Aloha Cottages is equipped with WiFi, flat-screen TV and DVD players in both cottages, ceiling fans in every room, all linens including beach towels, down and faux-down bed pillows. Aloha Cottages is equipped with an Activity Shed in the backyard which stores most of what you want for a great beach experience. In here you will find beach chairs and beach umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys and other fun toys. There is also a fabulous outdoor shower near the back door of Sunrise Cottage where you can rinse the ocean salt and sand off or just enjoy your morning shower outdoors. Grill fresh fish or any other island specialty on the large, stainless steel gas grill at the back of the property. THE PATH: An exciting NEW feature is the Seaside Walking and Biking Path that runs for miles along the ocean, right past the property for easy access. Visitors enjoy the path for exploring the coastline, nearby Kapa'a Town, beaches and amazing ocean views. Take the path less than a mile North to explore Old Town Kapa’a, a quaint little beach community with fantastic restaurants and shopping. This makes a beautiful walk to old town Kapa’a, voted one of America’s 15 Prettiest Small Cities in Forbes Magazine’s most recent designation. THE BEACH: Just in front of the cottage, less than 30 steps across the front lawn, is the soft sand and warm waters of 'Baby Beach,' one of the safest swimming beaches on the island for small children. Here you can enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, or even SCUBA for lobster in season. The quiet waterfront vintage neighborhood is just a short stroll from Kapa'a Town, with charming shops and restaurants. Please Note: Aloha Cottages, as well as most accommodations located on or near the ocean on Kauai are located in a tsunami evacuation zone. You will find detailed instructions and an evacuation and safe place map in your cottage to read over in case of this unlikely occurance. Right in front, less than 30 steps across the lawn, one lane road and Biking Path, is the ocean. Three houses to the north you'll enjoy the soft sand and warm waters of "Baby Beach," one of the safest swimming beaches on the island for small children. One of Kaua'i's oldest towns and the only one enjoying an oceanfront setting, Kapa'a is a short walk from Aloha Cottages, along the seaside walking path. In old Kapa'a Town, formerly a center for the sugar cane and pineapple industries, you'll find beautifully restored turn of the century buildings, housing a fascinating variety of shops and boutiques (some of our favorites are listed below). Plan on a day to explore the purveyors of island-style clothing, fine koa wood products, bamboo and wicker furniture, the souvenir-filled ABC store and many more. Just south of town you'll find the necessities nearby... supermarkets, gas stations and drug stores. Restaurants of all kinds are within walking distance of Aloha Cottages... from fast food to fine dining to Hawaiian "grinds." We think it's hard to resist fresh fish tacos, tropical fruit smoothies and banana pancakes with coconut syrup. We've listed some restaurant recommendations below. A weekly ritual for us is a visit to the Kapa'a Farmer's Market (the largest on the island). It's a popular gathering place at 2:45 pm on Wednesday afternoons. The good stuff goes fast so be sure to arrive on time to get in on the fresh offerings of homegrown produce… from reliably sweet corn on the cob and Sunrise papayas to "ono" Sugarloaf pineapples, exotic lychee, soursop and breadfruit and outrageous tropical flowers. Kapa'a is definitely a place not to be missed for soaking up the island's local color. We love that it's so accessible to Aloha Cottages. Conveniently located just six miles north of the Lihue airport on Kaua'i's east coast, Kapa'a is midway between the tropical north and sunny south shores, offering easy access to the island's many sights and adventures. Often times visitors to the island staying on the north shore never get to sunny Poipu or Waimea Canyon and visitors staying in the south don't like to make the drive to tropical Hanalei or the beautiful north shore beaches. We think Kapa'a has the best of all worlds, nice beaches, good shopping and a short drive wherever you want to go. Some of Our Favorite Kapa'a Restaurants: • Mermaid's Cafe • JO2 • Olympic Cafe (breakfast & lunch) • Hemingway's Art Café • Java Kai • Tiki Taco • Bushido Some of Our Favorite Kapa'a Shops: • Island Hemp and Cotton • Adornments • Bamboo Works • Kiko • Kela's Glass Gallery Nearby Activities we recommend: • HIKE Sleeping Giant for a breathtaking 360° view of the coastline and island interior • KAYAK the Wailua River to the waterfalls • SHOP in the boutiques/gift stores of Kapa'a Town • STROLL at sunrise on the seaside walking path for the best way to start the day • VISIT the Wednesday afternoon Farmers' Market for absolutely fresh and delicious local produce Aloha Cottages are conveniently located on the Coastal Pathway that runs right along the shoreline. With too-good-to-be-believed ocean views at every turn the pathway affords easy access to beaches and Kapaa Town by foot or bike. We are about 8 miles north of the Kauai airport. We look forward to welcoming you to our gorgeous little piece of paradise! Susan and Charlie
