Amma Beach Cabin, Scarborough

Amma is a cozy tiny cabin, inspired by our love of mountains and mountain huts. It is nestled amongst bush filled with bird life and overlooking wilderness with views of the sea. It is located in a neighbourhood with other houses but private and tucked away. The perfect place to retreat to with a pile of books. The space This is a tiny tumbleweed house. The concept was to build something tucked among the rocks and established natural vegetation. In the garden, there is the constant sound of birdsong and signs of life from porcupine and cape genet. From the bed you can see the sea. The bed is made up with an electric blanket in winter, cotton percale bedding, a down duvet and pillows. The kitchen has a bar fridge, an electric oven and a gas hob. The open plan living space is one floor up from the roadway and access is via some stone steps. The bathroom is on the ground floor and as it is a tiny house, the staircase is a little steep but has a sturdy handrail to guide you downstairs. The cottage is located on a public right of way so that from the fire pit location as well as looking down from the bed nook, you will sometime see passers by and their dogs. The outside seating area and bath are screened by bushes and the passers by cannot see into the cottage as the windows are a floor up. Guest access You have access to your own parking space and a tiny private garden with its own hot outside bath. Access to our cottage is close to the back of the little cottage so if you hear voices that is our other guests walking past. They won't see you as they walk past so your privacy is protected. Other things to note A laundry service is available on monday's, wednesday's and friday's. The cost is R100 for a 5kg load that will be washed and tumble dried. A cleaning service is available at a cost of R250 for a house clean and bedding change. For long stays we will change the bedding weekly with no extra charge.
