My charming home, originally built by wrestler Tally Ho Blears, is a short walk or drive to the beach. You’ll love the high ceilings, the coziness, ac, and the sunshine that comes through the very large picture windows. We have quiet neighbors, mostly peaceful wildlife (lizards, birds, chickens), away from the 'hustle and bustle'. My humble abode is good for couples, business travelers, and small families with kids. Because of our location, we recommend a car, to avoid hectic commuting hours. Our characteristic home is more rustic, welcoming and warm. It is in a country setting with all the trappings of tranquility near the sea, which adds charm, but comes with corrosion. The central air keeps it cool, but critters trying to escape the humid heat want to come in, especially when invited by food left out, or sweets brought in. Our neighbors keep a friendly watch over one another, and are always willing to help. Most of the house is accessible and for your comfort and enjoyment. We feature a modest television equipped with local cable, Amazon and Netflix. Why so small? So you wil not be tempted to stay indoors and instead are inclined to go outside! There is wifi, a large computer screen in one of the bedrooms, and lots of old books! I keep basic items stocked in the pantry and frig. You are welcomed to them! I have the yard watered and groomed by a landscaping crew twice per month, so don't be alarmed. We/they will never enter the house while you are there / away. We are all glad to have you visit! Makau street is unique as it is a lovely seaside community all it's own a blend of locals and transients. It is safely nestled at the end of the civilized world. The beach park next door is mostly quiet, and the shell picking after a few days of pounding surf is fabulous. Otherwise, you could get to know our slice of paradise by renting a few bikes from the nearby town and take them for a 2 mile spin to nowhere! Our bus system is ranked one of the best. If you needed to, you could get around the island on it. But for the best visit, we recommend a car. We are in a remote location with only 2 lanes in and 2 lanes out. Commuter traffic is a bear! Avoid it if you can, so you can enjoy what is great about Waianae and overlook our tiny island overrun and overwhelmed with cars, trucks, and buses without enough space to run them all. Sigh. Things are getting kinda snug here. The entire island is under siege by feral chickens!! We have a few roosters roaming about the neighborhood and they can be real pests for light sleepers. Care to take one home? Please? We can't control them! So sorry! A few anole's have made their way into the house, but they are pretty to look at, bright green with red spots. They like hanging out and chatting with humans. I have spoken to a few of them. They are cool, but mostly hide.
