E Komo Mai to our wonderful tropical getaway spot in Kailua-Kona Hawaii :) Our recently remodeled condo in beautiful Keauhou Punahele is close to the tranquil waters of Keauhou Bay, & is ideally situated for all of your Big Island vacation activities! * Please note that there is a 5 night minimum stay, and that the total rate for your actual reservation booking includes the required Hawaii taxes. Now booking for 2024 and 2025! Beautifully appointed with island style furniture/decor, along with a recently remodeled master bedroom/bath & kitchen, our 1200 sq.ft. condo is located in the lovely & well-maintained Keauhou Punahele complex (found at the "quiet" southern end of the world famous Ali'i Drive). The expansive living room has large sliding doors leading out to the lanai, where you'll find nice patio furniture & a gas grill for use during your stay. Inside are comfy couches and chairs, carpeted and tile floors, and a flat screen TV (plus cable service as well). Your shaded lanai overlooks the immaculately manicured grounds, the golf course (which was recently renovated), and the very inviting private swimming pool/jacuzzi/cabana found in the center of the complex. The spacious master bedroom (with a king sized bed) has its own entrance to the lanai, and the adjoining brightly lit bathroom has also been updated. The 2nd bedroom contains two full beds, and there is another full bathroom as well (with a washer and dryer located within). Our guests will have access to the private pool, whirlpool, cabana, and associated pathways at Keauhou Punahele :) For folks with limited mobility, our unit is reached without any stairs (level pathway from the parking area to the front door). Guests can chat with our very friendly Resident Managers if you have any questions about the condo association rules, facilities, etc. during your stay. In Hawaii, you are constantly surrounded by fascinating aspects of the islands' vibrant culture... Keauhou Bay was an important residence for royalty, and its shoreline + calm waters (reached by an easy stroll from our condo) offer a marvelous place to learn more about its significance to the Hawaiian people (via the interpretive displays on the paths at the head of the Bay). Other nearby historical sites include lava caves where people took shelter during conflicts, plus a spot where a decisive battle was fought between ruling factions (well worth taking the time to check these out). Keauhou Punahele is on the Big Island's "drier" side, and lots of sunshine, warm tropical breezes, and beautiful sunsets are some of our area's charms that are savored by residents and visitors alike. The many outdoor activities that everyone enjoys in this paradise -- hiking, paddle boarding, surfing, sailing, power cruising, shoreline/deep sea fishing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, golfing, beach combing, picnicking, sunbathing, bicycling, jogging/running, swimming in the sea or in a pool -- are near your doorstep. After exploring the culture, eateries, shops, and natural beauty of the Kona area, you can return back to Keauhou and relax in its calm peacefulness :) Keauhou Bay is reached by 10 minute walk, and this spot is also where snorkeling/SCUBA diving trips and deep sea sport fishing boats can be chartered as well. The Outrigger Keauhou Resort is next to the Bay, and there are restaurants + bars found at the hotel too. Folks can sometimes catch views of manta rays at night, from their viewing platform at the water’s edge (the rays are feeding on plankton attracted to this spot by the hotel’s underwater lights). The Keauhou Shopping Center is about a 20-25 minute walk north on Alii Drive, and all visitor services are available there (groceries, restaurants/cafes/bars, drugstore, cineplex, bookstore, beauty salon). There's a low cost public trolley which you can use to travel from Keauhou Bay to downtown Kona, via Ali'i Drive (it also stops at all the shopping centers in Kona, including the Keauhou Center). The southern terminus of the line is at the Outrigger Resort, and the walk from our condo to this trolley stop will take ~10 minutes. You can also rent motor scooters in downtown Kona (& use the trolley to reach/return from this rental facility). Taxis can be used to reach Keauhou Punahele from the Kona International Airport (cost $55-$65 each way). NOTE: To fully enjoy all of the wonderful activities and sights on the Big Island, obtaining a rental vehicle is best :)) The tranquil waters of historic Keauhou Bay -- where Hawaii's royalty once dwelt next to, and which is now the starting point for many aquatic adventures -- is located only a few minutes away. The Keauhou Shopping Center (also close by) has a KTA grocery store (offering many island food specialties), a bookstore, restaurants/cafes, movie theater, drugstore, urgent care clinic, and places to get sweet treats as well. Two farmer's markets are available in the vicinity (Wednesdays at the Outrigger Resort, Saturdays at the Keauhou Shopping Center) for you to sample Hawaii's delicious fruits, vegetables, home-made goodies, and arts/crafts :) For all of your west side Big Island activities, our condo is ideally located: Downtown Kona and the many shops/eateries there are within a 10-15 minute drive to the north, and the scenic waters of Keaulakekua Bay, the charming villages of the Captain Cook area, the world famous Kona coffee plantations, and the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau (Place of Refuge) National Historical Park are a short ride to the south as well. (Depending on the time of day, the Kona International Airport is ~25-40 minutes by car.)
