Glass House at Waipio
This home is filled with glass art, blown by the owner. The open floor plan and cathedral ceilings invite interaction and community, while two bedrooms and two baths offer privacy for couples or families. Lots of windows and sliding doors allow you to enjoy the spectacular 180° ocean view. Hiking, ATV tours, and horseback riding are within walking distance, and historic Honoka’a town is just a 10 minute drive. 487 steps will bring you to the overlook of the sacred Waipio Valley. We chose the Hamakua Coast because it gets just enough rain to be lush and green and enjoys lots of sun and amazing views. We chose to be near the Waipio Valley because we love the local people and their affinity for the 'aina, or land. For us, it is important to have our Hawaiian experience be one that honors both people and nature, and we fell in love with the true aloha spirit not always found in more populated areas. Beach Stuff We have some beach chairs, a couple of boogie boards and some snorkeling gear for you to use. The chairs are in the closet of the bedroom off the kitchen. The beach toys and umbrella are in the Rubbermaid trunk on the lanai. Beach towels are in the wooden box next to the futon in the living room. Please use these towels for beach and picnics, and spare our bath towels! We live off-island, but are available via phone or text. Our housekeeper is very friendly and responsive, so if you need immediate attention, we will send her over! This is a local neighborhood, and by that, we mean that most of our neighbors were born on the island and live and work nearby. If they have a party, you can expect it will be over by 10:00pm, and you will be a welcome visitor if you and your guests honor that unspoken curfew. Our house is a non-smoking home, so please indulge outside and use the ashtrays provided for your convenience.
