Our great Aunt Mary built this cottage on the water for her family after WWII. A few generations, (and many family events) later we're happy to share this Balboa icon with you as well. Step out front to enjoy the view, hang in the canal, or go for a paddle around the island. Walk out the back door and you're a few feet from the main avenue with restaurants, shops, and frozen bananas. By car, you're a few minutes away from downtown Newport and Fashion Island. Welcome to Balboa! This is a classic Balboa cottage. The front of the house includes a dock with kayaks and paddleboards you may use as well as a patio with furniture and a grill. The house is fully furnished and includes three bedrooms in addition to a pullout in the living room. There are two fully-stocked bathrooms. The middle bathroom includes a shower and bathtub. The second bathroom is connected to the back bedroom and includes a shower but no bathtub. The kitchen is stocked with cutlery and serving ware as well as basic staples, a fridge + freezer, and oven w/ gas range but not a dishwasher. The two-car garage features a washer and dryer that you're free to use and an additional parking space on the street. The house also has WiFi and Cable TV. You can access all parts of the house. There is an adjoining apartment above the garage that is not part of the rental. Our family will be available as needed. You'll also be able to let yourself in and out flexibly. Balboa Island is a great place to enjoy the sun, relax on a calm beach, or paddle around the island (We'd also recommend renting a Duffy boat and taking yourself for a cruise). The island has it's own shops and restaurants (Dad's Banana Stand and Picante Martin's are two family favorites) and you can take the ferry over to the Peninsula. Stay on Balboa and you can walk (and ferry) over to the peninsula, or drive to famous malls (Fashion Island, South Coast), crashing surf on the peninsula (The Wedge and Jetties), or wander down to other beach towns like Corona del Mar and Laguna.
