Large beachside property in stunning West Harris: great for family/friend groups
Our changeover day from April to September is a Friday - this needs to be the check in and check out day for a 7 night stay and the check out day on 5-6 night stays Fioran is a modern 5 bedroom house overlooking Seilebost beach on the spectacular west coast of Harris in the Outer Hebrides (Western Isles) off the west coast of Scotland. The house is easily accessed from the A859, which is the main road running north/south on the island. It is about 10 miles from Tarbert and the ferry to Uig in Skye, 50 miles from Stornoway, the airport and the ferry to Ullapool. There is ample parking at the front plus a disabled ramp to the side, from which there is level access through the ground floor of the house. The beach can be accessed via a gate at the back of the house. The house can sleep up to 10 in 5 bedrooms. There are two king bedrooms (both with ensuite shower rooms), two twin bedrooms (one with ensuite shower room), a family bathroom and laundry room on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room, which is suitable for disabled use if needed. There is ample living space on the ground floor, with a large sitting/dining area with Sky tv including sport and movies, a DVD player (please bring your own dvds if you wish to use this) and sound bar. Double doors lead onto the conservatory, again with comfortable seating area and panoramic views across of Seilebost beach and across to Luskentyre. The views are wonderful in any weather and at any time of day - even the sunset can be enjoyed from that position. The kitchen and pantry are behind the dining area and is very well-equipped with two ovens, an induction hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine (a complimentary tube of pods will be provided but if you are coffee lovers you may want to bring your own). Tesco will deliver groceries to Harris if you would like to book this online in advance. Please be warned that on Sundays almost everything on the island is closed though you would be able to eat out at several nearby restaurants. There is an outside seating area overlooking the beach plus a separate studio with a pool table, darts board, seating and drinks fridge. Please not that this area is not wheelchair accessible. A car is essential. If planning to arrive by ferry it is advisable to book your travel at the same time as your accommodation as it can get busy, especially from April until September. Changeover day: Friday Nearby: There are shops, restaurants and other facilities at Tarbert (10 miles). You will also find the Harris distillery, which is producing a delicious gin that is proving very popular. They have a good cafe and run tours. Right next door is the Harris Tweed Company, which is well worth a visit. Out of Tarbert, the Golden Road will take you round the east of Harris, where the land falls steeply to the sea, there are gorgeous views to take in and art galleries to visit. Seilebost is to the west of Tarbert and beyond Seilebost you will come to Horgabost (1.4 miles), where you'll find The Machair Kitchen restaurant. The Harris Golf Club (5 miles) is a links course and welcomes visitors - a round is paid for via an honesty box. Scarista House is just beyond that and is a well-known local hotel with a restaurant, at which non-residents can book a table. At Leverburgh (10.5 miles) there is The Anchorage restaurant overlooking the water. Further afield are the famous Callanish stones, where you'll also find a visitor centre and cafe.
