Ceilings are 6ft throughout most of the unit (+/- 2inch). This is a legal rental with hosts on site. The Garden Apartment is a ground level apartment. The charming space features a private entrance, living room area with couch, bathroom, and full sized bed. Ceilings are 6ft in most areas. The studio kitchen (with 7ft ceilings) has a microwave, induction hotplate, coffee maker, electric kettle, cutlery, blender, and apartment-size refrigerator. Home is located 1.4 miles from Wong Stadium and 2 miles from Hilo International Airport. Taxi service, Lyft, Uber, and car rentals are accessible from the airport. The apartment is completely seperate from the home so you will have lots of privacy. We store our bikes and deep freezer in utility space next to the apartment so you may see us walk past your door from time to time. A garden apartment, you look out on the backyard side garden and the front garden as well. You may even see our chickens foraging in the yard in the late afternoon. We are always available to give suggestions or talk story with you. We can talk your ear off or have minimal interaction- we usually wait for guests to indicate what level of interaction they would like. Please use the Airbnb message system as the primary way to reach us for questions or concerns. Like many neighborhoods in Hawaii, we are in a very mixed income area. We have some fantastic neighbors that are good hard working people and we ask that guests step into a 'judgement free zone' here in Hawaii nei. Most of our favorite spots in town are within walking distance- which is why we just love our home! Public transportation (Hele-on bus) makes stops all around the island. For a minimal bus fare you can travel just about anywhere. However, if you are looking to explore on your own schedule we do suggest renting a vehicle. Day trips to Kona, Waimea, Hawi, South Point, and Volcanoes National Park are completely do-able from our location. We ask that all guests conserve water and electricity during their stay with us. We have very friendly dogs and a few chickens on the property that you may hear or see from time to time.
