Peaceful island retreat
Fall asleep to the lullaby of the jungle. Feel the ocean breeze. Experience off grid living in style. Immersed in nature 2.5 miles from the ocean. Come see the newest black sand beaches in the world. Watch the local surfers, explore the lush jungle, take a yoga class, get a massage, head to uncle Roberts Wednesday night music. Pahoa is just a 15 minute drive away. 40 minutes from Hilo. 2.5 hours from Kona. Come enjoy the wild side of the big island. Our peaceful island retreat is located on our family homestead. Our Mom; Gramma Jean has a separate home on the property ( she is 93 and full of life, loves visitors, hugs, poker and much more) We also have a 6 year old boy and his mother living in a separate home on the property. We have been in this neighborhood for 15 years and have only good experiences with all of our neighbors. It is very Aloha. We are totally off grid; all power from the sun, and water from the rain, with many modern luxuries. It is an open tropical living design; with an open air central kitchen/living and dining room building and nearby bath house and 3 of the bedrooms are separate cabins a short walk away. One of the bedrooms has an attached 1/2 bath. Our property is planted with fruit trees, flowers and the beauty of the jungle. In general we get some blue skies and sunshine every day and some rain also. Things love to grow here! It is vibrant! Harvest herbs or veggies from our gardens. Listen to the birds. Watch the clouds roll by and keep a lookout for rainbows! You have full access to the 4 bedrooms, kitchen/living space, bathrooms, yard, gardens and fruit trees of our home compound. The art studio/workshop is generally off limits unless you make special arrangements. We are sometimes on the property in a separate dwelling or may have other friends or family in separate dwellings. We will be available by phone and internet and possibly in person, to welcome you and help make your stay wonderful. We are 2.5 miles from the ocean. About 7 miles from 2 black sand beaches and Pahoa town. There are many wonderful fun things to do in our neighborhood The best way to get around here is to have your own car. There is uber and Lyft service, but we are out in the country here, so not sure on efficiency. We drink only the filtered water here and make sure we keep all food items in closed containers in the kitchen. In general we do not supply flashlights, bug spray, rain gear, or ear plugs to avoid hearing our night singing tree frogs (its a jungle lullaby). So please bring if you think you will need.
