This is a vintage complex built in 1963 located within a garden of Ginger, Plumeria and tropical fruit trees lit with tiki torches at night, a setting that has the ring of earlier days. Cleaning and disinfecting of bath, kitchen and living area are done on day of arrival for each and every guest. Fresh linens, always. Something to consider: The garden setting offers habitat for our local bug population. We work to keep them at bay without use of toxic to human chemicals, but flareups may occur. Note: The kitchenette does not have a stove, but is equipped with microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker and blender. There is a BBQ by the pool for general use by guests. Guests have open access to the facilities at the Kona Islander Inn. These include the pool, Jacuzzi, BBQ grills, laundry with washer & dryer $3.00/load each. The lobby and lanai provide tables, chairs and desks for the use of guests. Willa and David live in Honaunau, 20 miles south of Kailua-Kona. We manage and maintain our three studio apartments. We are readily available by phone or by text at all times. The Kona Islander Inn is located in mid-town Kailua-Kona. Restaurants, Nightlife, shopping, Farmers Market, Town beaches, Churches, Luau and access to local activities including snorkel boats, manta dives, submarine and para sailing are within walking distance. Hawaii is truly is The BIG Island. In order to explore the volcano, Mauna Kea, Hilo and Puna areas, we recommend renting a vehicle. Some of these destinations can be reached by adventure companies who book tours right in Kailua-Kona. There is a local trolly-bus that shuttles back and forth to Keauhou shopping center from Kailua-Kona with a bus stop within easy walking distance from The Kona Islander. There is a large supermarket, pharmacy, movie theater, book store and a variety of restaurants at the center.
