The Koi House, a hosted rental, is an expansive open air home thoughtfully designed with eclectic bohemian surf style and eco-minded touches throughout. The Hala Suite is a comfortable private room in the guest wing, with two other guest rooms nearby. The hosts live in the main part of the house. It features a common entrance, charming outdoor kitchen, cozy shared living room with a workspace, and a refreshing pool. The suite has a Queen-sized bed and an attached private bathroom.The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, blender, grill, hotplate stove, coffee maker, electric kettle, utensils, and cookware. Bar style seating overlooks the pool and nature reserve. The Koi House is located in a quiet residential neighborhood 10 minutes away from the shops and restaurants of downtown Kailua-Kona and many nearby beaches. While our neighborhood is suburban, The Koi House sits at the edge of a nature reserve and is on a small private road, so it feels rural and tucked away. You are just one minute from the main highway that takes you to all of the island’s best destinations for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. The iconic Ali'i drive is also easily accessed for quick trips to local favorites like Magic Sands Beach and Kahalu’u Beach Park. The Koi House is centrally located making it easy to access many destinations in Kona. The best parts of the Big Island are only accessible via car, so we recommend renting one for your visit. We are 25 minutes from the Kona International Airport, 10 minutes from grocery stores, and 5 minutes from Magic Sands Beach. Please note, the home does not have air conditioning. The Hala Suite is equipped with a ceiling fan, window fan and a tower fan. Please keep this in mind when booking, as we know it is important to some travelers. A lockable bedroom door and in-suite safe are provided for guests. Washer/dryer use is available for $5 per load. Please inquire with the host. The Koi House has a friendly vibe and you may cross paths with other guests. You have privacy but also the option to connect with fellow travelers for a chat over coffee in the kitchen or by the pool. The Hala Suite has window screens and is fully enclosed, but the kitchen is open air so you may see a gecko.
