This Westchester model Lustron home, a rare 3-bedroom variant, offers a unique opportunity to experience mid-century architecture, blending history and comfort in a way you’ll never forget. Designed in the 1940s and early 1950s to help address post-war housing shortages, Lustron homes are made from porcelain-enameled steel panels, making them not only durable but also iconic pieces of American architectural history. With fewer than 1,200 of these distinctive homes left standing, this 3-bedroom Westchester model is even more extraordinary, as only a limited number of these three-bedroom Lustrons were ever produced. The Lustron Experience: A Walk Back in Time with Modern Comforts Step inside, and you’ll be immediately transported back to 1955. Every detail in the home has been carefully curated to capture the essence of mid-century living. The living room welcomes you with vintage furniture, retro decor, and vibrant colors typical of the era. The space has been preserved and decorated to stay true to Lustron’s original vision, including built-in cabinets and unique sliding doors that maximize space—a must for homes from that era. To the right, you’ll find a charmingly compact yet functional kitchen complete with vintage appliances. As part of Lustron’s commitment to efficient living, this kitchen offers everything you need to prepare meals, without the excess found in many modern kitchens. From its vintage coffee pot to an array of period-appropriate dishware, cooking here feels like a true blast from the past. While the kitchen is certainly retro, it’s still equipped to meet modern standards, with updated Wi-Fi and a washer and dryer available for your convenience. We strive to offer an authentic mid-century experience while ensuring you have everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Unique Bedrooms: A Rare Find in Lustron Homes One of the most exceptional features of this property is the three-bedroom layout, which is seldom found in Lustron homes. The Westchester model was primarily produced with two bedrooms, so a three-bedroom Lustron like ours is a rarity. Each bedroom is designed to reflect the home’s mid-century aesthetic while providing a cozy, relaxing space for guests to unwind. The boys' room is cowboy-inspired, complete with two twin beds and playful Western-themed décor, creating a fun and cozy atmosphere for young adventurers. Another bedroom is designed as a young female teen’s room, featuring a queen bed and stylish touches that embody the essence of the era while offering a comfortable space to relax. The master bedroom provides a serene escape with a larger bed and ample closet space. Each room blends vintage charm with modern comfort, ensuring a memorable stay. A Unique Atmosphere: Embracing the Bustling Surroundings Our Lustron is located at a busy intersection in a thriving commercial area, which offers both convenience and a lively atmosphere. Please note that the noise level is what you’d expect near a bustling, vibrant area. The sounds of traffic, local shops, and nearby businesses contribute to an urban ambiance that’s full of life and energy, making this stay ideal for guests who appreciate the feel of being at the heart of city life. For guests who love exploring the neighborhood on foot, you’ll find a variety of nearby shops, and restaurants just a short stroll away. The area has a dynamic mix of historic charm and modern conveniences, with numerous options for dining, shopping, and entertainment. The sounds and activity of the area add a sense of excitement to the stay, perfectly balancing the calm, nostalgic vibe inside the Lustron. Chelsea the Giant Pink Hippo: A Whimsical Welcome When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by Chelsea, our giant pink hippo who has become a beloved mascot for the property. Chelsea is impossible to miss and adds a playful touch to our already unique home. She stands as a cheerful, whimsical guardian, bringing smiles to guests of all ages. Chelsea sets the tone for your stay right from the beginning—fun, unique, and unforgettable. Outdoor Fun and a Nod to Classic Americana We’ve also turned our backyard into an experience of its own. For a true throwback, there’s a 9-hole mini golf course where guests can challenge each other to a friendly game. And soon, we’ll unveil a custom drive-in movie experience, crafted with authentic Lustron parts. This feature will allow guests to enjoy movies under the stars, just like in the heyday of the classic American drive-in, complete with seating, vintage decor, and a touch of nostalgia. It's not always ideal but this rare historic home needed to be saved and shared regardless of its location.
