There are 5 luxury airstreams with stunning views, miles of private hiking trails, 5 springs, a seasonal creek and waterfall, as well as a small heard of friendly Highland cattle that keep the grass and brush down on the property. The Lost trail to Yosemite & History of the property When new road ways are built the old ways often get abandon and forgotten. This property has been reimagined for the modern traveler. However it has as deep of a history as any in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The granite rocks tell a story of the old days when native Americans would have regularly used them to grind food. The springs and hunting grounds provided all the necessities that the hunter gatherer lifestyle desired. The Gold Rush began in 1849 and Yosemite opened in 1851 prompting families from all over the world to rush to the heart of California in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. One of the original wagon trails to both gold country and Yosemite ran right through this property. The unique topography of this land where the grade turns vertical created a natural place for people to stop and rest their horses for the night. The granite springs ensured there was always clean drinking water for the horses and travelers. It was like the modern day fuel station. During the 1870s Big Oak Flat road opened access to the Yosemite Valley. By wagon this shaved some significant time off the trip. Enough after only a few years to become the main route from travelers coming from the north. You can still see the remnants of the wagon trail through portions of the property as it marks a way and an era that has come and gone. We’re reminded that the journey is just as valuable as the destination. This lost trail is just a few minutes off the beaten path waiting for the traveler that appreciates the road less traveled.
