Downtown Hilo Bungalow
This old style Hawaiian home will take you back in time as soon as you enter. It is located in a small residential neighborhood at the edge of downtown Hilo where you can walk to the daily farmers market, many restaurants, cafes, yoga centers, shops, and the waterfront. A convenient location to stay while enjoying the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Washer and dryer available for stays of a week or longer. This property is smoke-free, including all outside spaces. The home has two good sized bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, and large living space and kitchen and dining. There are lots of windows for light and air flow. There are ceiling fans in every room. The bathroom was remodeled in 2016 with new shower, vanity, and flooring. The home is clean and freshly painted. Beds, furniture, and kitchen supplies were replaced in 2015. The kitchen has everything you need for daily cooking. You will have the entire property to yourselves. There is an air conditioning unit in the front bedroom and many fans. If you open up the house, there is a nice ocean breeze most of the time. You will find that you rarely need the air conditioning. There is a large grassy backyard. The area is part of a group of old historic homes, a small community of nice locals who mostly own their homes. The entire area is dark at night due to Mauna Kea researchers wanting low lights for the observatory. The edge of the property backs up to a historic Chinese cemetery. Hilo has a number of these and this one has a beautiful and ornate red temple on it. It is worth exploring as there is a lot of history here. Wifi (password on premises) Speeds (as tested): Downlink 59 Mbps, Uplink 5.9 Mbps Large driveway with plenty of parking I won't be on the property during your stay but I am always reachable and I have caretakers that can be there in person if you need something. Hawaii County just added another 3% tax for 2022, which is included also. If you noticed that the nightly rate has increased, this is why.
