Thanks to the special, double, tinted glass, the large overhanging balcony and the sun blinds, the isolated walls, the temperature in the flat is very pleasant in both summer and winter. Moreover, there is always a comfortable cooling breeze from the river with its boats in summer. Our flat is in a newly constructed building, designed by the famous Berlin architect Graft. The iconic building looks like a cruise boat, facing the river Spree. It sits in a unique location full of historic landmarks, between the Oberbaum Brücke and the Elsen Brücke. This section of the river Spree was part of the so-called Berlin Wall. It's extremely well-located as it's close to many of Berlin's famous clubs and bustling nightlife, yet at the same time it's perfectly secluded and quiet. Supermarkets and public transport are at short walking distance. Our apartment is on Level 2 of the building. It has a broad 15 m2 private terrace facing south, directly overlooking the Spree river that meanders west through Berlins city center. Only a paved bike- and footpath separates us from the river. It has a comfortable, light and spacious feeling: the living room and the bedroom have ceiling-to-floor window-doors with direct access to our big balcony facing south to the river Spree. From both rooms you can see the river and the pleasure boats passing by. The apartment has an entrance hall which it shares with our second apartment (street side) which we use ourselves when we are in town. From this hall you access the door with your own key to go into your own Spree side apartment which you have all for yourself. The building has a bike room at your disposal on ground floor level, as well as a small boat jetty on the waterfront. Videophone for extra security and access to visitors. We love the direct view on the iconic sculpture "Molecule Man" in the river. And from the building's shared rooftop terrace/garden on Level 7 by elevator you get fantastic views over the whole skyline of Berlin. We furnished the apartment with new and contemporary decoration, making it comfortable without overdoing it. You will find it has many little extras that we don't even mention. So you can be sure everything is there to make it a pleasant stay. The apartment is a perfect base from where to explore Berlin. FLOORS: The wooden floors all through the apartment are of a warm dark oak parquet with individually adjustable floor heating. WINDOWS/TEMPERATURE CONTROL: A good and comfortable temperature and climate all year long as a result of double/triple tainted glass, windows which can be opened and closed as you please (tilted and turned), exterior sun screens and individually adjustable heating for spring, autumn and winter (no airco). Airfans available. All windows have outside sunscreens that are electronically operated from the inside. Additionally, all rooms have ceiling to floor curtains to ascertain your privacy and comfort. DINING/LIVING ROOM and KITCHEN: Sweeping view on the river Spree and the sculpture of Molecule Man while you sip a drink on the leather sofa, sit in a comfortable leather armchair, or contemplate the impressions of your day from the antique rocking chair. The open dining room/ kitchen forms an integral part of the living space thanks to its warm colors and lighting. The large leather sofa is easily converted into a high quality bed for two persons (160 cm by 200 cm). We are aware that sofa beds can be disappointing to sleep on, but we are happy to say that its bed, that you can easily unfold and fold, is of the VERY BEST quality. We will send you a manual on the use of the apartment, together with a list with tips for inter alia supermarkets and public transport to and from the apartment to the major airports and train stations. During your stay you can always contact us for questions, observations or urgencies. Our goal is to provide you an excellent and comfortable base during your stay in Berlin! LOCATION AND NEIGHBORHOOD: Our apartment is situated close to a bustling trendy and bohemian neighborhood: Friedrichshain. With nice shops, boutiques, bars, cafés, restaurants and night dance and lounging clubs at close distance to the apartment! Walking distance from East Side Gallery, the biggest part of the former Berlin wall that is still standing, converted into an open-air work of arts. Close to the East Side Mall for shopping, and to the center of Friedrichshain, a cozy area with small boutiques and sidewalk terraces for a beer, coffee, and all kinds of food. The historic Oberbaum Brücke, once a crossing place between east- and west Berlin, is only a short and pleasant stroll away alongside the river. For sportive guests: you can walk, bike and run in nearby Treptower park or the historic peninsula of Stralau. The apartment is very close to 3 big supermarkets (Netto, EDEKA, LIDL), evening shops (so-called Spati's), Ubahn (metro Warschauerstrasse, Schlesische Tor), train (Ost-Kreuz, Treptowerpark or Warschauerstrasse with a direct connection to BER airport) and bus stops. Many very nice and affordable restaurants in the neighborhood. The Stralauer allee in front of the building is lively with cars during day time, but peaceful in the night. The Spree side of the building is quiet by day and by night. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You receive 2 door key-sets; Ultra-speed internet and Wi-Fi (DSL, glass fiber); A pleasant and comfortable climate all year long; Level 2 by elevator or staircase; We have furnished your apartment with care: please treat it likewise by yourselves to enjoy it most; Guests have access to all space in the apartment except for some private cabinets; As we have real wooden parquet floors, please wear no shoes with noisy soles and clicking (high) heels. Also for hygiene reasons we would appreciate it if you take off your shoes upon entry after walking the Berlin city streets.; NO smoking inside. Smoking only on terrace, with our sliding doors closed, or on the shared rooftop terrace; No parties/events; No visitors who stay overnight other than the guests booked for; No animals or pets; No children under 12 years; No persons under 23 years old without a parent; Bike parking space inside the building available on a "first come, first serve" basis; Car parking possible on the parking lot or in the street; 500 Euro charge per lost key as the locks and all other keys would have to be replaced; We have a fire extinguisher in the apartment; you find it in the kitchen; You also find a first aid kit in the kitchen cupboard; Smoke alarms we have in every room.
