The space Welcome to our beautiful house in a tree. Take your dreams of sleeping in a treehouse and make them come true in comfort in all seasons. Our sustainable paradise is an experience in innovative nature immersion technologies (pellet stove, solar powered, electric hot water heater at the sink, clean composting toilet and hot outdoor shower in the warmer months). It allows guests comfortable homey immersion in the natural world. Pull into your parking space off our driveway and see the house above you, a large fire pit area, flower gardens, lawn games below the house and the outhouse and shower tucked in the woods. Follow the path to the stairs that lead you up to the large porch overlooking the forest surrounding you. Our treehouse is on a driveway with our home further up and a fulltime tenant below and you will find you have all the privacy you need. Inside you will find the kitchen, dining area, sitting room and sleeping loft. A full kitchen welcomes you with an induction stove, spices and every cooking supply to cook your meals. Cozy up on the couch by the fire to read a book or pull out the full size bed for additional sleeping space. The loft has a queen bed, some storage and the most beautiful place to wake up. Look out over the wooden banisters, all harvested within 100 ft of the property, to the full wall of east facing windows. Take it all in before you have your coffee by the stove or out on the sunny deck. We built this from all locally sourced wood with our own hands and truly have put our hearts into every part of it. Guest access You will have the whole treehouse and its surrounding area to yourself. Enjoy your private outdoor shower, fire pit and games area. The woods and trails are welcomed to be explored, and you will not see "no trespassing" signs in the woods often, so feel free to walk on the many trails or dirt roads. Other things to note Some logistics to note about living the woods, especially in the winter: Water & Bathrooms: The hot outdoor shower is stunning and an amazing place to get clean and bask in nature. The shower only runs from May-Nov (Shower is turned off by Nov 1st), and there is no alternative shower Nov-May. The outdoor sink is cold water only and inoperable in the freezing months. The kitchen has hot water year round. There is drinking water in a separate container. The toilet is a composting toilet in an outhouse. It is very clean and does not smell and is simple to use. We use a local organization for waste called The Rich Earth Institute in Brattleboro. The Pellet stove: This is a luxury for heating up the space as needed. There are detailed instructions available upon arrival. The heat fan can be a bit noisy. Induction Stove: The stove top is induction, and we're happy to help if the instructions for use are unclear. Also, it is not recommended that people with pacemakers cook on induction stove tops. Electricity: The outdoor lights and motion lights are solar and don't have backup. When the weather is cloudy for days on end, we will help with flashlights if needed. The Road: Our property is very private and rural. We live on a private road 1/2 a mile from the main road. In the winter, you may need 4x4 or all wheel drive if there is snow and ice. Please go slow on the road in all seasons. Young Kids: We built this treehouse with the intention of including families, and yet, the loft in particular could be a hazard. The hatch closes, so you have a full floor with no gap, and we recommend closing this or having children sleep downstairs.
