The Cobhouse - Rustic, Self-Catering & Off-Grid

The Cobhouse is a cosy rustic off-the-grid little cabin in the off-the-beaten track area of Ruigtevlei, just inland from Sedgefield, Western Cape, on the bank of the Karatara river. The perfect getaway for a couple to get away from the rat race, take a moment to breath & rediscover each other... Private & secluded....Switch off the cellphones! Recharge romance and come and enjoy off-grid living, "glamping" style. The space The Cabin consists of one bedroom with a comfortable double bed and double doors opening to a river view. The cooking area are situated on the open deck outside the bedroom. It consists of a small gas burner and sink with hot and cold water. The bathroom entrance is off the deck, consisting of a flushing toilet and hot & cold shower big enough for two. Guest access Guests will have full access to the property. Swimming is allowed in the river. Access is a bit hindered by reeds growing on the river bank. Other things to note There is no electricity. Candles are available in the bedroom as well as a portable solar flashlight. The main water source is from the nearby river for both the kitchenette and bathroom. The water is a brownish color due to the tannins in the water but is safe for consumption. Fresh rainwater for drinking/ cooking is supplied via a portable water can. There is no fridge, so guests are recommended to bring own portable cooler for perishables. One crate of braai wood and fire starters are supplied per day. Extra wood can be purchased. Unfortunately no pets allowed.
