Cabin Name: American Heritage Able to sleep up to ten people (and a pet or two) in both comfort and style, American Heritage is an ideal home base for your Smoky Mountain vacation. The four-bedroom, three-floor log lodge is only minutes from all the area attractions. What's more, it's so relaxing, spacious, and comfortable, you could have a wonderful time without leaving its premises. With three large rear decks and a front porch that stretches the width of the home, American Heritage makes it easy for you to relish the crisp breeze rustling through the trees, the singing of larks and warblers, and the lovely wooded view. As well as a basketball game on one of the decks, you'll find plenty of rockers for kicking back and relaxing amid the sights and sounds. The best place to revel in the surroundings, though, might be the deck's hot tub. During the day you can gaze up at the sun-dappled trees; at night you can try to count the twinkling stars. American Heritage is just as restful indoors. The great room, which makes up the main floor, really is pretty great. Sumptuous leather seating invites you to sprawl out and watch a movie on the 50” TV with cable and a DVD player, to curl up with your tablet and surf the web via the free WiFi, or even to stretch out for a well-deserved nap. On winter evenings the stone-surround fireplace is certain to be a favorite gathering spot, though the kids might prefer the multi-game arcade instead.American Heritage's two master bedrooms are on the lower level. Each includes a stately king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, a convenient half-bath, and a door that opens directly onto the lower deck—you can step outside to catch the sunrise, then slip right back under the covers. These bedrooms share a full bathroom that features an especially delightful amenity: a jetted tub. When you return from the slopes, the links, or the hiking trail, you'll want to make a beeline to its massaging jets of water. The other two bedrooms are upstairs on the loft level. One features a king-size bed, the other contains a queen-size bed, and the both offer flat-screen TVs. The wood-planked walls, sloped ceilings, and views over the treetops make these bedrooms especially delightful. Another full bathroom is on this floor as well. And if you have additional guests, the great room's sofa opens into a queen-size bed. In addition to the living area, the great room includes a dining area and the kitchen. Six people can sit at the handsome dining table with room to spare, and there's seating for two more at the breakfast bar. And though there are numerous restaurants nearby (including dog-friendly Crystelle Creek just a mile away), the kitchen might inspire you to new culinary heights. Open and bright, it's equipped with stainless-steel appliances, gleaming counters, and plenty of cookware and tableware. You'd be hard-pressed to find a lodge this spacious that's also so conveniently located. American Heritage is just off the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. You could easily spend a day (or two) exploring this eight-mile trail of more than 120 shops, studios, and galleries. You'll also want to head to downtown Gatlinburg, just ten minutes away. Here's where you'll find the Guinness World Records Adventure, thrill rides, an aquarium, and more. From there you can take the tram up over the town to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, only fifteen minutes from American Heritage, is a must-visit. And just one town over is Pigeon Forge, home to Dollywood, the Titanic Museum, dinner theaters, and more.No matter what adventures you get up to, you'll love returning to the quiet comfort of American Heritage afterward. Fireplaces: *On During: October 1st - February 28th *Off During: March 1st - September 30th Common Concerns: *Road Conditions: Some of our cabins are on steep, narrow, curvy, mountain roads. If you are concerned about road conditions to get to a cabin, please feel free to ask us! None of our cabins require a 4 wheel drive under normal weather conditions. *Well Water: Most of our cabins are on well water. Well water here in the Smoky Mountains sometimes has a different feel to it and often times a slight sulfur smell and often times has a brown color. Well water is safe to drink and to use for bathing and to cook with. We do have water systems on any cabins that have these issues, but keep in mind, it may smell and feel different than what you are used to. Also, some of our wells take time to recoup themselves after a lot of water has been used. This is a common problem in this area and there are times you may have to use water sparingly or wait for the water pressure to rebuild. *TV & WiFi: We do have TV's and WiFi in most all of our cabins. There are times when heavy cloud cover, weather systems, mountains, or trees will cause problems with the signals. We always want our guests to have the comforts they want on vacation, but there are times we cannot control this problem. *Pests & Wildlife: Here in the Smoky Mountains, we have lots of native bugs and wildlife. All of our cabins are treated for pests, but there are times you will find bugs or even have trouble with bugs. Please let us know if they are causing trouble, we will handle it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please never feed, taunt or approach any wildlife. This is their home and we are the visitors.
