Our charmingly decorated one bedroom beach rental is on the upper level of a 2 story beach house. It is just steps away from the beach and Lake Michigan. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing an elegant dinner or quick snack. This unique rental is well cared for and comfortable. The gradual sandy beach is excellent for swimming and the sunsets from the south shore of Lake Michigan are incredible. Minimum stay in the off season: 2-4 nights Minimum stay in the peak season: 7 nights. My sister (Ericka) and I (Susan) own and manage the cottages. We live on the premises and are available if you need anything but otherwise your privacy is respected. Porter Beach is a small beach community located on the borders of the Indiana Dunes State Park and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and just one hour from downtown Chicago. The beautiful beach stretches in either direction for miles and within minutes you can get to wonderful nature trails, excellent restaurants, quaint shops and many interesting cultural attractions. We recommend a having a car. The South Shore Dunes Park train station is a few minutes away. Chicago is an hour away by car or train and makes for a great trip. Hiking trails in the State park and National park vary in length and difficulty but are all wonderful for both hiking and cross country skiing. There are also excellent sledding hills nearby. Other close by sights include historic Chelberg Farm, Westchester Township History Museum, Zao Island Amusement Park, Taltree Arboretum, Calumet Bike Trail, Imagination Glen with a BMX race track and a 10 mile Outback Mountain Bike Trail and Broken Wagon Bison Farm and many more wonderful places to explore and activities to delight.
