Located on a quiet street in tranquil Union Bay, one block from the ocean and views over Denman and Tree Island. This 2 bedroom suite with off-street parking and private entrance, offers a great reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. Conveniently located in the Comox Valley, with close access to Cumberland, Courtenay and Comox as well as Mount Washington and Strathcona Park. 1 hour drive from Nanaimo Ferry Terminal, 30 minutes from Comox Airport and 6 minutes from Buckley Bay Ferry 820 sq ft suite with two bedrooms, one bathroom, open plan living area and private entrance. Suite is wheelchair/stroller accessible. Access to the fully fenced, sizable garden with outdoor seating area and views of the ocean. Well behaved and social dogs are welcome, however to be respectful to other guests pets are not permitted on the furniture or beds (additional cleaning fee of $50 applies and owners are responsible for picking up after their dog). My husband and I live in the upper two floors of the house with our dog, Winston and cat, Izzy. Our aim is for our guests to kick back and relax in a stress-free setting. We respect our guests privacy, and follow their lead, but can be on hand to help people plan out their stay or answer questions that arise. The guest suite was newly constructed in 2011 when Hatton House was moved over from Dunbar, Vancouver to Union Bay by Nickel Brothers. The upstairs of the heritage home was originally built in 1915 and ample amounts of old world charm are still intact. The property is one block from the beach, ideal for paddle boarding, kayaking or boating. Behind the property is the old commuter, Victoria to Comox rail line which offers up kilometers of trails. The town of Cumberland, known as a mountain biking mecca is a short drive away, and the local breweries are a great way to quench your thirst after a ride. For those that are looking for higher alpine, we do not disappoint. Mount Washington is located 40 minutes drive away and offers downhill skiing, cross country and snowshoeing in the winter and hiking and mountain bike trails in the summer. Strathcona Park is the oldest in Canada and the largest on Vancouver Island. Parking and access point just 40 minutes away, offering access to alpine lakes and meadows, wheelchair and stroller accessible trails and day-long, all terrain trails. After a day of activities the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa is a 7 minute drive away. Visit the full service spa, drop in at a yoga class at the Starfish Studio or enjoy one of their bar/restaurant options. If golf is your thing then plan your stay around the 6 golf courses in Comox Valley, all offering their own unique course design and views. The Comox valley offers something for everyone and our suite is a great base to get out and explore or unwind and soak up island living at its finest. The easiest way to maximize your time in the Comox Valley is to have access to a vehicle, however the #10 and #14 bus stop is a 4 minute walk from the suite and services the Comox Valley every 40 minutes through the day. Our dog Winston, is very friendly and social. If your dog is aggressive or not sociable with other dogs this may not be the right place for you. We’re also very proud of our garden and therefore if your dog is not used to staying out of flower/vegetable beds, we will request that you keep them on a long leash when in the garden.
