The apartment is on the 1st floor of a two-family home and has a private entrance. I live in the duplex unit above the apartment. I take great pride in being thoughtful and accommodating and the apartment is fully stocked for your comfort. Check-in is easy via a door handle keypad, Everyone is welcome to stay with me regardless of sex, race, religion, or sexual orientation. I do not discriminate. THIS IS A NON-SMOKING LISTING. Read my listing thoroughly before booking. The apartment is located on the ground floor of a two-family home and has a separate private entrance. The apartment has been recently upgraded with new appliances, new tile, a Nest Thermostat, and Google Home smart speaker/home assistant. The apartment is equipped with high-speed internet, and there is a flatscreen tv with YouTube TV, Hulu, and Netflix on the Roku device. There is a portable washing machine, if you would like to use it, please let me give you a tutorial. The kitchen is stocked with breakfast food including cereal, oatmeal, and coffee. The fridge is stocked with milk, bottled water, and eggs. The small supply closet next to the bathroom is stocked with extra towels, toilet paper, and paper towels. The bathroom includes plenty of options for shampoo/conditioner, body wash, and lotion. I also provide travel-sized packs of toothpaste and toothbrushes for guests. The queen-sized bed in the bedroom comfortably sleeps, two people. There is a full-sized futon bed in the living room, which can sleep an additional two people comfortably. We also have a pack n play crib for families with young children. The couch is another sleeping option. If you would like to relax outside, there is outdoor furniture just inside the security door. You are welcome to take the furniture outside and set up wherever you like in the front yard.... The place is yours to enjoy, you are free to come and go as you please. You are welcome to have people come and visit, but no overnight visitors are allowed without prior approval. If you end up having unbooked guests staying with you, your reservation will be modified or canceled. When possible, I give guests a quick walkthrough of the unit, share house rules to keep an eye on and share tips on the neighborhood. Beyond that, I'm always available to answer any questions you may have. The neighborhood has all the amenities you may need. There are plenty of grocery stores, parks, bodegas, gas stations, and transit stops within a short walking distance. It only takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to lower Manhattan on the A express train. If you have a car, street parking spaces are available but can be limited. I do suggest paying attention to alternate side street parking rules and parking accordingly the night before. The people in the neighborhood are friendly. There is a mix of blue-collar and white-collar professionals, and families. The neighborhood has become much more diverse as new luxury building have been built and long-time homeowners are beginning to retire and sell their properties. I enjoy playing pick up soccer at the nearby field and going to events at the community garden when the weather is pleasant. There is the B15 bus stop on the corner, which will take you to terminal 5 at JFK in an hour and a half. The A and C subway station is a 5-minute walk away. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to lower Manhattan and 45 minutes to get to Times Square on the A express train. The A-train to JFK will take you an hour. **This listing is for NON-SMOKERS!!** If you or anyone in your party smokes, do not book my listing. If someone is caught smoking, I will give you the option of canceling your stay or paying a $200 penalty. ** Our Roomba ** We have a Roomba that runs at 1 pm, in our unit, and takes roughly an hour to complete cleaning. Please, let me know if this becomes a problem for you, and I can adjust the timer per your schedule. ** Our Family and Potential Noise ** We live in the duplex above where you will stay and we have 3 cats and two sons. Our youngest is a year old so you may hear him crawling about. Our older son usually wakes up around 7 am and goes to bed at 8:30 pm. During weekdays he is in school from 7:30 am till he returns at roughly 6 pm. I'm mentioning this because we have had a few guests mention that the wood floors can be loud. If you are guests who are planning on lounging around rather than going out for the day, then this may not be the listing for you. We do provide white noise machines to help with any noise pollution. There is also a fan, space heater, and air conditioner to help provide additional white noise. If you are a light sleeper and need additional help sleeping, I also provide earplugs. New York City can be rather loud due to the noise of transportation, sirens/alarms, and dogs barking, so it may take a while to get used to. ** Public Transportation ** There is the B15 bus stop on the corner, which will take you to terminal 5 at JFK in an hour and a half. The A and C subway station is a 5-minute walk away. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get to lower Manhattan and 45 minutes to get to Times Square on the A express train. The A-train to JFK will take you an hour. ** People Who Drive ** If you plan on driving I want to be completely transparent. Parking can be difficult. To get a good parking spot you will need to plan the night before. The only days that you will not need to worry about alternate side parking rules are Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. You can also Google NYC parking or look them up on Twitter to get updates on holidays and events where you do not have to worry about alternate side parking rules. Some quick tips are that there tends to be more parking available in front of the church on our side of the street as apparently is not zoned as a church so you can park in front of it. There also tends to be more parking one block away past Schenectady Ave. Worst case scenario you can double park on the opposite side street of where the street sweeper will run. I suggest you remain in your vehicle as not to get a ticket. If you leave your vehicle leave a note on your windshield with your number just in case a vehicle alongside your vehicle needs to move.
