The Okra Inn Iberville is located a block from the Canal Streetcar line, which runs directly to the French Quarter 24/7. Located in lively Mid City, the art-filled home includes 6 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, as well as 2 living rooms, 2 dining rooms, and 2 stocked kitchens. The charm of the building, the convenient location, and friendly, attentive, knowledgeable hosts make us the perfect place for your group to fall in love with New Orleans. The space THE SPACE The Okra Inn is a historic camelback cottage in the vibrant Mid City area, within sight of the Canal Streetcar line. The Inn features 11 foot ceilings throughout, original pocket doors, beautiful crown molding, two living rooms, two dining rooms, three and a half bathrooms, a front porch, back balcony, back patio and our own blend of artsy charm. The house contains two kitchens stocked with cooking basics. The decor strives to be a cozy, funky version of classic New Orleans, with kitsch alongside original art, elegance alongside a feeling of homey comfort. We want the house to be clean and pleasant, but without a sense that guests should be afraid to touch anything. We strive to be pet-friendly, though we ask that you inquire before booking if you are planning to bring pets. Living area includes: * 2 living rooms * 2 dining rooms * 2 kitchens * 6 bedrooms * 4 bedrooms with Queen beds (all upstairs) * 1 bedroom with a Full (Double) bed (downstairs) * 1 bedroom with two Twin beds (downstairs) * 1 full size futon in one of the living rooms (with pocket doors for optional privacy) * 3 full bathrooms and one half bathroom * Closets in all of the bedrooms * Ceiling fans * Wireless Internet * Central AC * Two televisions * The kitchens are equipped with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, glassware and other kitchen and cooking basics, as well as salt/pepper, oil and spices * 2 coffee makers (drip) * 2 refrigerators, 2 ovens/stoves, 2 dishwashers * 2 microwaves and toasters * 1 blender THE NEIGHBORHOOD Mid City is the heart of the city! Hop on the streetcar and enjoy a short, quaint ride (for $1.25) to the French Quarter anytime, day or night. As well as the Quarter, Mid-City is a good spot to access the rest of New Orleans' memorable neighborhoods such as Uptown, Treme, and the Lakefront. Or enjoy all that Mid City has to offer. We are within ONE AND A HALF MILES of: More than 50(!) locally owned restaurants, including Parkway Bakery and Tavern (probably the world's best po'boy shop) More than 15 bars (including three music venues) Five coffee shops Three grocery stores and two specialty markets One very large beautiful park (City Park, which is larger than New York's Central Park!) One art museum (The New Orleans Museum of Art) One sculpture garden (Sydney and Walda Besthoff Garden at New Orleans Museum of Art) One bayou (Bayou St John, the only one in town) One famous beignet stands (Cafe du Monde in City Park, open 6 AM-midnight) One famous Italian bakery and gelato shop (Angelo Brocato's) One accessible swimming pool (The Drifter Hotel) One Hurricane Katrina Memorial Kayak and paddle boat rentals (On the Bayou and in City Park) Great examples of New Orleans' famous above-ground cemeteries Y'all are going to love it! Guest access We want you to feel at home while staying in our home. Guests have full, private access to the house, front porch, back patio and back balcony. Other than in an emergency, we will always ask for permission before entering the space while you are there. Other things to note HOUSE RULES AND IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE BOOKING We do allow pets at our discretion. However, please inquire before booking if you are planning to bring a pet. Please inquire before booking if your group is a bachelor(ette) party. While we are happy to host these groups, we ask that they do not have any party events in the house, and that decoration is kept to a minimum. Firearms are strictly prohibited. Active duty military and law enforcement officers may contact us at the time of booking regarding possible exceptions to this policy. Any exceptions will be granted at our sole discretion. Smoking is not allowed in the house but is allowed on front and back porches. We have noise monitors installed on the property to comply with the City of New Orleans short term rental hosting requirements. We do feel strongly about being respectful of neighbors. We ask that guests watch noise levels outside of the home after 10pm on weeknights and after 11pm on weekends; this is especially important in the back patio/balcony area, which is close to neighbor's bedrooms. We do not allow any outside guests to stay past these hours. In general, please ask before your stay if you are planning on hosting any sort of gathering. We do not allow guests to use grills or other open flames, for safety reasons. ABOUT US Lindsay started The Okra Inn in 2013, and today it's a family owned and run business with her husband Adam, young children Penny and David, and Ringo the dog. They now have two locations, both in the vibrant Mid City neighborhood. Registration number 21-CSTR-08128, 20-OSTR-02677
