This updated 600 sq ft oceanfront cabin on a private 1.6 acre lot has everything you need for a romantic getaway, relaxing family vacation, or just to unwind (no TV or WiFi!). Located on Vancouver Island's beautiful, rugged southwest coast, it is a scenic 1 hour drive from Victoria and a 25 minute drive from Sooke along the Pacific Marine Circle Route. It's just minutes away from world-famous hiking trails and several beaches - French, Sandcut, China, Mystic, and Sombrio to name a few. This quintessential West Coast cabin, on a very private 1.6 acre oceanfront lot, has a large outdoor sundeck that overlooks the beach and ocean below. The kitchen, dining, and living area are open concept. The well equipped kitchen includes a full size fridge, stove top, microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, toaster and blender. All the basics are provided: mugs, wine and water glasses, dinnerware, cutlery, cooking pots/pans, napkins, and paper towels. Some basic food items like coffee, tea, sugar, etc will be on hand as well. On the sun deck there is a Weber BBQ along with a table and 6 chairs for dining outside. The inside dining area has a table and benches that can seat four comfortably. The living room has a comfortable sofa, an easy chair, and a wood burning fireplace. Plenty of firewood, kindling and paper are all provided for cozy evening fires. There are two bedrooms - one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. The full updated bathroom with bathtub and shower includes towels, face cloths, shampoo and condition, hand and bar soap, toilet paper and hair dryer. Each room has electric baseboard heaters for your comfort and there are dimmers on some light switches. There is also a small, low loft for young kids to play and hideaway in. Down a wide set of steps below the cabin you will find a private, secluded lower deck just above the beach that offers a spectacular 180 degree view of Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Peninsula. It is the perfect place for relaxing while reading a book, watching the surf, winter storm watching or taking in a stunning sunset. From this deck the beach is just a few steps below (there is no public access to our beach so there is rarely anyone else on it). Our more natural, original trail to the beach offers a secondary route to the shore. There is a good selection of games, puzzles, and books for your enjoyment. While there is a landline phone for unlimited local calls there is presently no cell reception at the cabin. Cell service should be coming to the area sometime this year in 2022. We have purposely left the cabin without WiFi or a TV so guests can connect more with their loved ones and the natural surroundings of the area while enjoying their stay. There are 3 restaurants within a 10 minute drive of our place. The Point No Point Resort just up the road offers lunch and dinner as does Stoked Wood Fired Pizzeria near French Beach. A bit further on the very popular Shirley Delicious is open for breakfast and lunch. The closest stores and gas stations are a 25 minute drive away in Sooke so it is recommended that guests stock up on supplies before their arrival. Guests should be aware that the weather can be very unpredictable and can change quickly on our West Coast. People should come prepared for all types of weather - wind, heavy rain, sun, and even snow occasionally. We are pet friendly so dogs are welcome at no additional cost. Please let us know ahead of time if you will be bringing your furry friend(s) so we can leave out a blanket, towels, and food dishes for them. ***We ensure that our place is thoroughly cleaned after each guest stay: every surface and all high touch areas are wiped down and disinfected; the floors vacuumed and mopped; and all sheets, towels and linens sanitized. There are bottles of cleaner and cloths available should guests wish to wipe down anything during their stay. There is also a self check in and check out process although I may be there when guests check in.*** If you need any further information or have any questions about our place or the surrounding area please be in touch! The entire cabin and property will be yours to enjoy. It is very private. I am in Victoria and can be contacted by phone anytime during the stay. The property is in a coastal, rural area close to nature and the wilderness. Several beaches and trails are close at hand. Beaches close by include French, Sandcut, China, Mystic and Sombrio. Possible wildlife can include eagles, seals, otters and whales - maybe even the occasional bear. The closest amenities (groceries, gas) are a 25 minute drive away in Sooke. You will need a car. There is no public transportation in this area. Guests should pick up gas and groceries in Sooke or Victoria before heading to our property as there are no amenities close by other than a few small restaurants. A few basic food items are at the cabin that guests are welcome to use (coffee, tea, sugar, ketchup, etc). Propane for the BBQ and plenty of firewood and kindling will also be provided. This property offers guests an opportunity to "unplug" as there is no cell service (coming sometime in 2022), WiFi or TV at the cabin. The cabin does however have a landline phone. We are pet friendly so dogs are welcome.
