Beach Cottage Built 1930
1930's beach house
This 816sqft 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom historic cottage is only 100 yards from the ocean and near the intercoastal waterway. We have central air for cooling and heating. With ample decks (20' x 30' connected to 20' x 10') surrounding it, this cottage has 6000 sq. ft. of private property. The interior has old southern heartwood pine on the walls. It was part of a group of houses built in the 1930's in this area of Vilano Beach. Originally a fishing village, the area was constructed by an aviator named Reiss, a colleague of Charles Lindbergh and founder of the St. Augustine airport. Used by military families during WWII (a German spy occupied one of these cottages), it later became a motel called the Pagoda. You'll love the natural beauty of the still-unspoiled area of North Florida. You can walk along a peaceful, uncrowded beach and just relax, or pick one of the many activities nearby: para sailing, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, boating, cycling, bird-watching, hiking or golf. St. Augustine is only two miles away, Jacksonville 45 minutes away, and Orlando is a two-hour drive. Vilano Center is 2 blocks away, which has been restored to its original Art Deco style. There is a major grocery store, several restaurants and a fishing pier. There are regular concerts at the pavilion. Guana State Park is 8 miles north of us on A1A. The old town is 2 miles away, and has retained its original architecture from the 1600s. There are many fine galleries, and an art walk the first Friday evening of each month. There is a large farmer's market on Sat. morning on St. Augustine Beach. National Geographic selected St. Augustine as one of the most beautiful cities during the holidays when there are a million lights illuminating the city beginning Nov. 17 through Jan. 31. 6172168960
