EFFECTIVE 4/5/21. NO QUARANTINE WILL BE REQUIRED FOR VISITORS WHO HAVE A NEGATIVE COVID TESTS TAKEN WITHIN 72 HOURS OF BOARDING THE AIRPLANE FROM THE MAINLAND. COVID-19 CLEANLINESS PRECAUTIONS ARE LISTED AT THE END OF THIS DESCRIPTION. Pua Lani (Heavenly Hibiscus) and is actually two houses on one large lot, and the price quoted is for BOTH houses. Akala Pua (Pink Hibiscus) is a lovely 3 bedroom, 3 full bathroom home and Ahe Lani (Heavenly Breezes) is a 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom home, both are located just 120 yards east of the ocean at Huai Bay. From there, it is just a 250 yard stroll east Baby Beach or 280 yards west to Lawai Beach. The Sheraton Kauai beach is .7 mile to the east, and Poipu Beach Park is about 1-1/2 miles to the east. Akala Pua and Ahe Lani share a common 3000 sf backyard which forms a mini-compound for family reunions and group vacations. These houses were designed by legendary local architect Robert E. Lee, AIA, who designed dozens of golf clubhouses throughout the world for Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The houses capture the old Kauai plantation livability that works so well with the tradewinds, combined with all the modern amenities we have come to expect. The house designs bring families together to talk and bond. The location gives them plenty of choices. And the decoration and furnishing make it comfortable. The question everyone asks as they drive to Poipu is “Did I rent a good house?” Drive four houses past Pua Lani, your first thought will be “WOW! The ocean is really close!” Then you may wonder where to park your car because the parking area for Pua Lani is beautiful lawn growing through concrete blocks. Drive right on the lawn! Walk up the meandering walk to the front porch of Akala Pua or walk up the hardwood steps to the front porch of Ahe Lani, remove your shoes and step into the entries of these Hawaiian plantation style homes and you immediately begin to see the great decorating and furnishings. Original oil paintings and natural wood trim and doors scream out “Hawaii!” You start to feel the gentle breezes that flow through and cool these houses because every room has cross ventilation. Perhaps your children “OOH” and “AAH” when they see their room, and it really hits you, “This may be better than home”. Lets walk through the two houses. From the Akala Pua entry, walk upstairs into the great room with its twelve foot high vaulted wood-beam ceilings and ceiling fans. The living area with a panoramic view on three sides, decorated with a large rattan sofa, a two person rattan loveseat, and a comfortable rattan easy chair with ottoman. The entertainment center has a flat screen television with a DVD player and a CD stereo system with a few Hawaiian CD's provided. On the right is the glass dining table for eight with rattan chairs and the kitchen. The kitchen is modern and spacious with granite countertops, a GE range with microwave, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator. From the kitchen sink you can see the whitewater ocean view past the dining table. Outside the Akala Pua great room is a 100 square foot roofed lanai with a table and four chairs that is great for morning breakfast or evening meals or just watching the sunsets. Back downstairs are the Akala Pua bedrooms, the laundry, a storage room, and the garage. On the far left and right sides of the entry are the nearly identical master bedroom suites decorated island style. These bedrooms have a sliding door on one wall and windows another wall plus a ceiling fan for great ventilation. The California king-size beds are firm and original oil paintings hang over them. There are bedside tables, a full dresser, and a 42” smart television. The private bathrooms have dual lavatories, an oversize shower or a tub/shower with glass enclosure, a toilet and openable windows to keep the mirrors from steaming up. Between the two Akala Pua master bedrooms is the third bedroom with two twin beds that can be made into a king bed for just a $25 fee. It also has three tropical bedside tables, and a dresser. There is a sliding door out to a 100 square foot covered lanai that makes an ideal place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. It also has two windows and a ceiling fan to keep it cool. This bedroom has its own bathroom across the hall with dual lavatories, a shower, toilet, and openable windows to keep it from steaming up. The master bedrooms are separated from the third bedroom by closets, giving Akala Pua plenty of interior privacy. As you enter the back house, Ahe Lani, you will walk into the great room with its nine-foot ceilings and ceiling fans. On the left is the living area with windows on three sides. It is decorated with a large rattan sofa, a two-person rattan loveseat, and a comfortable rattan easy chair with ottoman. The entertainment center has a flat screen TV with a DVD player and a CD stereo system with Hawaiian CD's provided. On the right is the hardwood dining table with plenty of room for you to enjoy meals and "talk story" afterward. The kitchen is modern and spacious with granite countertops. There is a GE range with microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Both kitchens are completely stocked. In addition to all the pots, pans and cooking utensils you will need, there are matching sets of dishware, glassware, knives and silverware. Since you will need more than that to cook a meal, you will probably find aluminum foil, saran wrap, baggies, wax paper, coffee filters, paper napkins, paper towels, dish liquid and dishwasher soap, plus many other necessary kitchen supplies. Next to the Ahe Lani kitchen is the separate laundry room with washer and dryer and a separate storage room holding the beach chairs, sand toys, coolers and maybe boogie boards and snorkeling gear left by previous guests. Walk down the hall from the great room. On the left is the sliding door to the 200 square foot lanai. This lanai is partially roofed in case of rain and has an outdoor dining table with four chairs, plenty of space to enjoy alfresco meals or cocktails. Further down the hall to the right is the Surfer Bedroom decorated with two twin beds that can be made into a king bed for just a $25 fee. This bedroom has two windows and a cooling ceiling fan. It also has three tropical bedside tables, a dresser, and a 19" television. This bedroom has its own bathroom with dual lavatories, a tub shower, toilet and windows to keep it from steaming up. Past the first bedroom is the master bedroom suite. On the right is the bathroom with dual lavatories, a five-foot shower, toilet and windows to keep it from steaming up. Past the bathroom is the master bedroom decorated in a flower motif with tropical furniture. This bedroom has a sliding door on one wall and windows on the other two walls plus a ceiling fan for great ventilation. The California king-size bed is firm but cushiony. An original oil painting hangs over it. There are bedside tables, a full dresser, and an armoire with a 19" television inside. The two bathrooms separate the two bedrooms giving Ahe Lani plenty of interior privacy. Between Akala Pua and Ahe Lani is a 3000 square foot lawn with chaise lounges for sunbathing on those days when you don't want to make the 3 minute walk to the beach. The lawn is also home to a gas barbecue. Both Akala Pua and Ahe Lani are listed individually on VRBO as #57013 and #57020 in case you just want to rent one house, but the price quoted on this webpage is for BOTH houses. Be sure to look at the guestbooks for each of them to see all the comments that have ever been left in the house guestbooks--these are all the comments, not just a few favorable reviews! All our houses are non-smoking houses. These houses is fully licensed by the County of Kauai (TVNC #1072 and #1073, Tax ID TA198600294401), and are professionally managed by The Parrish Collection within two miles of the house. SPECIAL COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS We have always taken cleanliness very seriously and are now taking additional steps to improve our processes and procedures to help protect our guests and team. Since we already use CDC and American Hotel & Lodging Association products and procedures to clean our properties, we looked to go to the next level. "Clean Bed" -- All linens and bedspreads are washed during each change over. "Turnovers" – For all new reservations we have at least 30 hours break in between guests to complete a proper clean. . "Sterilization and Disinfection" – Our property manager has purchased new equipment and products and is emulating the major hotel companies cleaning processes. "Keyless Entry" – Given social distancing is most likely going to be here for some time, it seems our property manager is giving up the “Front Desk” or “in-person” greeting which was a mainstay of true “Aloha” welcome. They will still have their Front Desks, but are researching systems that will no longer will require guests to come to the office to access their property. "In Property Amenities" – Our property manager is looking into bulk purchasing of anti-bacterial wipes, hand sanitizer and other products to be included in the standard amenity package. In addition, they will be supplying some of their cleaning products and supplies in the properties so guests can clean as needed during their stay. 14 night minimum during Christmas. Cancellations: Up to 60 days prior to arrival, all payments are returned, minus $250 cancellation fee. Within 60 days of arrival, damage deposit and cleaning fee are returned. We will try to re-rent the house and forward any net rents we receive to you. No refunds for early departure.
