Some of our favorite places in the local area: Located just 1 mile from the village of Saugerties, 3 miles from Exit 20 on the thruway, and 5 minutes from Price Chopper and Dunkin, enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the Catskill Mountains without sacrificing convenience. VILLAGE OF SAUGERTIES: just a mile away, has delicious restaurants, amazing boutiques, treasured antique stores, a movie theater, Inquiring Minds Book Store, and more. Named one of the coolest small towns in the United States by budget travel, this is a town you don't want to miss. ICE SKATING: Kiwanis Ice Arena (1 min) - figure skating, public skate, and hockey, just .5 miles from the house (open August through June, closed for the summer). SKIING: Hunter Mountain (30 min), Windham Mountain (40 min) - Some of the best ski resorts in the Northeast! HIKING: The Saugerties Lighthouse Trail, Kaaterskill Falls, Falling Waters Preserve, North Lake, Espous Bend, Poet’s Walk, Mount Overlook, and Huckleberry Point are just a few of the hiking trails in the area. The village of Woodstock is just 15 minutes away. Enjoy the eclectic shops, restaurants, and architecture. If you are in the area, this is a must see. The city of Kingston is just 15 minutes away. Total Tennis (8 min) - The NorthEast's only year round tennis camp. There are 5 indoor and 20 outdoor courts and lessons for all ages. Opus 40 (15 min) - This is one of the most amazing earthwork sculptures in the world. It is an international destination right in our own backyard. Puttin Plus (1 min)- This kid fun center includes minigolf, go-karts, batting cages, arcade, laser tag, and more fun, just .5 miles from the house. Cantine Memorial Complex (2 min)- Softball fields, basketball courts, three playgrounds, soccer fields, and more. A great location for family fun. Some of our favorite Saugerties restaurants (all about 5 min): Diamond Mills, Miss Lucy's Kitchen, Black Eyed Suzie's Upstate, Bella Luna's, Main Street Bar and Grill, Mirabella's, Starway Diner Saugerties Light House (5 min) – just 1 mile away, take the short scenic trail to the Saugerties lighthouse. Bring a picnic lunch or a book to read, and relax on the large deck overlooking the Hudson River. Falling Waters Preserve (10 min) - A beautiful easy to moderate hiking trail along the Hudson River with waterfall views. It is best to have a car if you are renting this house. While the house is close to town, it would be a pretty long walk to get to public transportation. There is room for 6+ cars in the driveway.
