Unique historic loft near bayfront shops and dining
Almost a 100 years old. Unique loft apartment (with screened porch) in a carriage house with a private garage. Central location makes it a quick walk to downtown and 4th Street businesses. There are two loft apartments in this historic building. They are identical in size and layout. They are both private, separated by stairs and a foyer. Access garage with keypad or car remote. Original oak staircase leads to the second floor. Second floor landing is decked out with whimsical old prints, books . . . and a porch swing. The lofts are 500 square feet including porch. Bigger than most hotel rooms. Living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Well designed to maximize space and light. Yellow French doors separate living room from bedroom. Book cases in the wall provide lots of space for collections. Maybe a few seashells from Fort DeSoto beach? 40" Smart TV rotates to watch from many angles. New queen size bed has a pillow top mattress. White headboard and footboard in shiplap coastal style. Crazy octopus artwork overhead is original painting from a local Key West artist. Yellow shelves give the bedroom an extra pop of color. Short hop from the bedroom to the bathroom. Behind the paisley shower curtain is a claw foot tub with shower. Old medicine cabinet is from another era. Above is a double school house light fixture for maximum illumination. We added a few extra wire baskets for storage. White towels are packed in a nearby cabinet. Washer/dryer behind faux finished doors. Larger closet in living room for wardrobe. Breakfast table just off the kitchen. Additional eating area on the breezy screen porch. Glider makes a good place for a glass of wine at dusk. Kitchen is functional and bright. Under counter lighting and ceiling fan add to the ambiance. White square tile on the kitchen counters trimmed with oak. Herringbone subway pattern on wall. Original old farmhouse sink. Shabby chic cupboard over head. Coffee cups and wine glasses hang from hooks and holders to give maximum storage for dishes and food. Butcher block cutting board. Pantry with glass door from a local antique market. We found some funky blue and white pinwheel knobs for an extra whimsical touch. Kitchen is complete with range, microwave, refrigerator and even a dishwasher. This is a fun retreat for two people. A little quirky . . . but with everything you need. Plus, it puts you right in town.
