Perhaps just sit and listen to the birds and frogs without the sounds or lights of the city. This 30' x 16' apartment is a stand alone unit attached to our garage and adjacent to our home. Great for weekend getaways to escape the hustle of the city and for travelers who are just passing through. This is a pet friendly rental. Although we try our best to keep the apartment clean, you may find a few pet hairs in the apartment. If you are highly allergic to pets, this is not likely a good rental for you. All Springfield, Illinois Abraham Lincoln sites are within an hours drive as well as the state fair grounds in Springfield. Approximately 2 hours north of St. Louis and 3 - 4 hours south of the Chicago metro area near historic Jacksonville, Illinois. Jacksonville is approximately a 20 minute drive with many dining and shopping opportunities. Several dining opportunities that we recommend are: Muggsy's - American Style Food Brick House - Barbeque Smoke House Proud Richards - American Food Norma's - Down Home Cooking Leo's - Pizzeria Italian Food. Springfield is about a 50 minute drive with many more shopping and dining opportunities. This is a very nice efficiency/studio apartment available for short stays for those who want to get away from city life for a weekend, those who are just traveling through but don't want to stay in a hotel. Families visiting their students at Illinois College are welcome. There is lots of space for kids to explore or adults to relax with a country walk through native prairie or you can sit by the pond and enjoy the tranquility of the country without the sounds of the city. Listen to the birds, frogs, crickets, and view the evening stars without city lights. Perhaps you will see a herd of deer or two that are very common to this area. A fishing pond is available if you bring the fishing equipment with blue gill and bass fishing. Unfortunately, the pond often is covered in moss during the summer. For the most part, it is very quiet with an occasional car. Great neighbors and a very safe neighborhood. Go for a walk, watch the birds, listen to the frogs and relax. There are also lots of deer in the neighborhood. If you're luck, you see a few as you enjoy the property. The only way to get here is to drive your own car.
