Welcome to our Artistic Garden retreat! Centrally located in the heart of Santa Cruz, 1 mile from Sunny Cove Beach and Pleasure Point. Close to the boardwalk, yacht harbor, Downtown Santa Cruz & Capitola. Detached guesthouse & spacious lush yard, fully furnished, outdoor area and more. Our 1/2 acre farmhouse lot is a garden oasis with lush palms, proteas, bamboo & succulents weaving throughout. Our garden and private lot have it all! 1 night stay ok when available just ask. No animals allowed. Santa Cruz! When you drive into the property, you’ll be treated to several exotic species of tropical bamboo groves. We can often accommodate a 1-night stay, please inquire by message. The Guesthouse size is best suited for one person or a couple. Relax in the guest area outside large open space under the Walnut Tree. Our home (which is separate) as well as your completely detached guesthouse are located on a half acre of landscaped property, lush and artistic grounds with fruit and nut trees as well as bamboo and exotic garden plants. We have tons of nature around the property with a honey bee hive that help pollinate all the fruit trees along with beautiful hummingbirds. The landscape is full of color and always changing with the seasons. We hope to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We live in a separate home on the property. We have expansive yard and garden areas surrounding the property - There is an outside area for our Guests to enjoy located where you access the parking. You can dine outdoors there, relax, chill in the outdoor space we've designed for your enjoyment. This area is open and not fenced. We have ample on property parking access via our side street so please note the parking access and Guesthouse entry in your details. The Guesthouse is perfect for one or two adults only- with a full bathroom, partial kitchen and a living area open off the Bedroom. The space is open as a studio without walls with the exception of the bathroom. The queen size bed is extremely comfy. There is a sofa that can becomes an extra single bed if needed. Let us know in advance if you'll be using the couch as an additional sleeping area so we can bring in a comfy memory foam topper for this. There is a metro rack in the bedroom closet to use for clothes, and to store your luggage. We offer beach towels and beach chairs and you are welcome to borrow soft top long boards while you are visiting and a beach cooler to bring on your adventures during your stay with us as well! Kick back and relax in the Guest area garden with a large shade umbrella near the large Walnut Tree near the parking and garden zone- during the warmer seasons. We have a stainless propane BBQ ready for our guests & outdoor dining area under a walnut tree surrounded by bamboo. For your morning enjoyment there's a coffee maker and electric kettle with coffee and tea provided. The mini-kitchen is perfect for those who won’t be spending their time on vacation or business trip cooking and cleaning. We have a small fridge, microwave, toaster, cutting boards, fun glassware, plates, cutlery, knives, etc… This guesthouse does not have a stovetop/oven for cooking. We’ve found our guests love going out and enjoying Santa Cruz restaurants as well as using the outdoor grill on site. You can enjoy your takeout meals back here at the compound rather than shopping, prepping and cooking while on holiday. If there is something you may need that is not in the guesthouse just let us know and we can walk it over from our main house. We are more than happy to provide any item that we may have overlooked or didn’t get replaced in time for your arrival. There is a 40" Smart flat screen TV with an HDMI cable provided so you can watch movies by logging into your own account from any of the apps provided like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple TV- just log into your account or connect your personal device to the Smart TV. We do not have cable. But the Smart TV should provide tons of viewing options. Please note: We charge only a nominal cleaning fee, so please leave the Guesthouse home clean as you found it We're located in a lovely, quiet, family neighborhood. Health or safety concerns: We do not allow animals and/or pets of any type - including assistance animals. We have many shared spaces where any animal may create a safety concern -and advertise the Guesthouse to be free of allergy situations. To prevent health or safety issues, we do not host guests with assistance animal/s. Not a party place; we respect our neighbors! We have a 2 night minimum Friday or Saturday. (But please inquire if you see an available date and want to spend just one night) Setup not suitable for toddlers or children. Not kid proof nor appropriate for littles. Guests must be 21 yrs. or older. We have expansive outdoor space and hope to see you while you are here, upon arrival we can show you around! We are happy to chat with you during your stay, offer suggestions about restaurants, things to do and places to visit. As long time residents, we have great local knowledge of the surf, art culture, restaurants, music scene, shopping. hiking, mountain biking and trails. Day trips? We can make some great recommendations. But we may also be away on our own adventures during your stay. Our Farmhouse was built in 1932 during a thriving area for Live Oak as the crown jewel of hens and egg production. The chickens are gone but their history has left us with rich fertile soil where we have taken advantage of this resource to plant a flourishing garden. Live Oak and Santa Cruz raised the second most number of chickens in the State after Petaluma, in the heyday of egg production in the first half of the 20th century. Chanticleer Ave is named after the Chanticleer Rooster, and Live Oak was the epicenter, being the location of the local Farmer’s Exchange, an enterprise modeled after the mid west member-owned Co-ops. Two trains a day brought ingredients for chicken feed to the Exchange and they were milled and blended into feed for the members. Live Oak is rich in history and we welcome you to explore our quiet neighborhood and discover all kinds of wonderful hidden gems. Santa Cruz is easy to navagate on bike or in your car. The Guesthouse is one mile from the most spectacular beaches, pleasure point and biking is a great way to access most places in Santa Cruz. Boardwalk, Capitola Village, Surfing, Golf, Mountain Biking!! Our private property has on property parking that is off the street and easy to access at the end of a quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac in Live Oak. We welcome you to walk our historic neighborhood and learn about the poultry farms that once inhabited this area, many of the poulty shacks remain on properties. We have one on our property in it's original state and use it as a surf shack and enjoy it's charm. In addition to surf lessons (inquire for rate) we’ve had guests requests for portraits as Terry is a full time professional photographer.
