Shanks' Lodge in the Woods is the perfect place for your family or group to connect without the distractions of urban life. 3600 sq foot home with a pool and 8 person hot tub. Nestled in the middle of 20 forested acres in Mariposa county. Shanks' Lodge feels private, quite and secluded. A rustic feel awaits you as you enter this 3 bedroom home with hot tub and pool. An added sleeping loft allows this house to easily accommodate as many as 14 people. In the Great Room, you'll find a large wrap-around couch where you can enjoy the look and warmth of the wood stove. The well-equipped kitchen has all the amenities to prepare even the most elaborate meals. After a long day of fun-filled activities, fall asleep in one of the beautifully constructed hand-made log beds. Four bathrooms, all with showers give even large groups enough privacy and convenience. The large outside deck, with a barbecue grill, tables and chairs, overlooks the private pond and front acreage. Hike throughout the property and appreciate the ‘old growth' oak trees and ponderosa pines. During the summer months, take a dip in the refreshing pool with a picture perfect waterfall. Soak in the jetted hot tub after a long day of hiking any time of the year. The guests will have access to the entire house and 20 acres of property. This includes the laundry room, hot tub, solar heated pool, gas barbecue grill and private pond. * The pool is heated by solar and only warm enough to swim from mid-May through September. We try to meet guests on the day of arrival to show you around the house and property. If we are unable to meet you we will leave the door unlocked with a key in the house. We also have the August Lock system, which will allow you to enter the house with an electronic key as long as you have a smartphone. If you are looking for some nightlife and old-town charm, check out Mariposa and its historic downtown. Founded in 1849 and the most southern of the Gold Rush towns, Mariposa is home to many charming, western theme shops and tasty restaurants. The town’s 1854 courthouse is the oldest continuously operating courthouse west of the Rockies, and the Smithsonian Institute has named the Mariposa Museum and History Center one of the best small museums in America. It features people and life back in the days of the Gold Rush and late 1800s. Shanks' lodge is located mid way between the towns of Mariposa and Oakhurst, 3 miles off of Hwy 49. In either town, there are large grocery stores, restaurants and quaint shops. 45 minutes away from with the El Portal or Mariposa Grove entrances to the magnificent Yosemite National Park. 30 minutes to Bass Lake, which is renowned for excellent fishing, hiking trails and warm waters. Wake-borders flock to Bass Lake throughout the spring and summer as do boaters, water skiers, paddle boarders, wave runner enthusiasts and more. On the same property a few hundred feet away, available to rent is a 2 bedroom/1 bath cabin with a sleeping loft. It can comfortably accommodate 6 people. We allow house-trained dogs, but with some rules. First, it’s an extra $50 per pet for the stay. Should you book, we will send a separate request for the fee, which you will find in the email registered with Airbnb. Further, we reserve the right to charge for any damage caused by the dog. Second, please keep your dog in a crate if you leave the dog alone in the house for an extended period of time to avoid accidents in the house. We do not provide dog crates so please bring your own - along with a nice blanket and toys :) Third, please clean up all dog waste in the yard. We do not supply poopbags, so please have your own supply.
