This is an outstanding location for outdoor enthusiasts to access the best of Central Oregon. Only an 18 minute drive to the Mt Bachelor Ski area! Deschutes river float trips, fishing, hiking, biking, and dining are all within 3 miles. The Art House is a historic mill home formerly a part of the McMenamins St. Francis Hotel in downtown Bend Oregon. Due to expansion needs of the extremely popular McMenamins location this house needed to be moved to a new location to preserve its historical importance. The current owners committed to moving the structures (recycling) and relocating so that the public could continue to enjoy these special homes. After great effort by both the McMenamins franchise and the current owners the goal was achieved by successfully relocating. The Art house still has much of its historical charm such as old style wood fireplace, antique doors, and sinks but was upgraded with modern appliances, professionally designed kitchen, hot tub, Flat screen TVs, etc. Continuing with the recycling theme the decks were all built from reclaimed old growth redwood. The ceilings were paneled with local Ponderosa Pine that had been killed by pine beetles. These dead trees were milled locally into custom ceiling paneling. Decorative accents were made from reclaimed barn wood creating a warm, and rustic feel. Many of the McMenamins decorations and additions have been preserved as well maintaining the super fun and funky charm McMenamins hotels are known for. For the traveler with an eclectic appreciation of historical design and simplicity this is sure to please. Broaden your palate with something a little different, something unique and memorable. What great vacations are all about. The lock box is on the right had side of the doorway on the West side of the home. The entire home and 1 acre lot is all yours to enjoy. We have 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes for guest use We live in the same neighborhood as the Art House so if you need assistance of any type we are there to help. We have extensive knowledge of the surrounding area, lakes, rivers, trails, etc. We are happy to offer any information to make your stay the best experience possible. Our neighborhood is a relaxed enviroment allowing features such as outdoor fires in fire pit as well as outdoor games. Most of the other Sunriver Locations do not allow these. Proximity to Mt. Bachelor is outstanding. Compare distance driving with other Sunriver area property, La Pine or Bend. No location is closer and the road from this area experiences very light traffic. It is best to bring a car to this location but it is easy to walk or ride a bike locally to dining, shopping, etc. This is the closest lodging location to Mt. Bachelor ski area, (16.7 Miles) Its an easy 18 minute drive to the parking lot. The Harper Bridge, Deschutes River Float Trip launching point for Sunriver is just 1.5 miles away. Sunriver Resort is 2.6 miles away. Crane Prarie Lake is 18 miles. Mill district and downtown Bend are 18 miles. Our neighborhood allows open (warming) fires so we have an outdoor fire pit for your use to enjoy with family and friends. All the firewood is provided for you free of charge.
