This fun upscale condo is decorated in a vintage surf motif with a touch of luxury in paradise. Listen to the waves crashing all night long. You’ll watch the most amazing sunsets almost every evening! Why should you stay in our condo? It's hard to compare our condo to other vacation properties from just the pictures. All the condos in our building are unique. While they are all in the same building, many are dated and well-worn, and the ground floor units suffer from privacy issues. And many owners defer maintenance and prefer to treat their properties like a hotel with little regard for the guest experience. We take great pride in keeping our vacation home clean, well maintained, comfortable, and in top condition! Our condo was recently remodeled. When something wears out or looks dated, we have it replaced or repaired immediately. We provide beach towels, snorkel gear, binoculars for whale watching, boogie boards, beach chairs, extra pillows, soap, shampoo and conditioner, and much more! We have new “smart “TVs with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and even Bluetooth speakers so you can listen to YOUR music. We have installed screened security doors so that you can leave the doors open and listen to the wind and waves! There is really no comparison to most of the other condos in our building (or area) and the things that we provide for your vacation experience. Please read our reviews! Our 4th-floor unit gives you an incredible view of what you are coming to Maui to experience – An amazing view of the ocean! Comfortably sleeps 4 people. (Parties of over four people require permission before booking) While we can't guarantee it, we encounter sea turtles on almost a daily basis in front of our condo. We see whales from our balcony/lanai. And there is great snorkeling right out front. There are great restaurants are close by, and we can give great recommendations if you would like. We provide beach chairs, extra beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel gear, and binoculars for whale watching too! We have Host Free Check-in, meaning there is not an office to check-in and no key to pick up. We provide you with a personal access code to the electronic door lock. The door code changes at 4:00 PM the day you arrive and will change automatically at 11:00 AM the day of your departure. Please keep your code in a safe place. Because we split our time between Maui and Washington State, we have an on-island manager to handle any issues that may arise. Also is located on the Modem. We're sorry will not be there to meet you personally. We split our time between Maui and Washington State. Because of this, we have an on-island manager to handle any issues that may arise. Phone numbers for our manager, cleaning company are located in the condo. There is no need for a key, we provide you with a unique door code valid for your stay. Annie’s Surf Shack is located in the Kahana Reef Condominiums, on Kahana Bay. Kahana is a small quiet neighborhood located just south of Napili. About seven miles north of Lahaina. Most of the accommodations in this area are privately owned. Some smaller vacation complexes, but no mega-resorts. There are several shops and restaurants located within walking distance. If you are looking for a large resort experience, this is not the place to come. But if you are looking for a more relaxed local experience, this is the place you are looking for. This is your Zen Getaway. There is a nice private beach next door, and a great snorkeling reef right in front of the condo. Pohaku Park (AKA S-Turns) is one of the best surf spots for a west swell in Maui is within walking distance. Kahana Bay is a premier windsurfing/kiteboarding/Wing Foiling spot on the island. Watch an amazing display of wave jumping and aerobatics on windy days (most every day). About 10 minutes north is Honolua Bay where you can find some of the best snorkeling and surfing on the island. Kahana Reef is in the middle of everything on the West Side of Maui. Five minutes to Kapalua to the north, and about 10 minutes to Lahaina to the South. Kahana Reef was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) The complex is older but well maintained. With its direct Oceanfront Lawn and tropical gardens, and access to a private beach, it's ideal for those who want to explore the island by day and have quiet relaxing evenings. There is even a small Chinese Restaurant directly across the street from our Condo. The mega-resorts are just to the south and north of us, if you wish to spend some time shopping or playing tourist. Annie’s Surf Shack/Kahana Reef is the ideal place to stay on the west side of Maui. It's your Zin Getaway! Directions For directions to Annie's Surf Shack, check out our website. Paste "Annie's Surf Shack Maui" into your web browser and then click on either the Welcome tab or the Guest Services tab to get Map Directions. Easy to get to with a rental car, taxi, or shared ride service (Uber/Lyft). • From Kahului Airport (OGG), take HI-380 West (airport exit connects directly to it) to HI-30; turn left onto HI-30 and follow signs to Lahaina. The approximate distance to Lahaina is 22 mi (35.4 km) ~ 35 minutes. • From Lahaina, Continue HI-30 North approximately 6.9 miles (11.1 km). Turn left on Hoohui Rd (McDonald's is on the left corner). Turn right on Lower Honoapiilani Rd and drive approximately 0.2 miles. Kahana Reef is on the left, across from China Boat Restaurant. Our Maid Service is required to use Covid-19 Cleaning practices. Because of this, we are required to have longer cleaning and wait times between guests. Please check with us If you would like an early check-in or a late checkout. Early Check-in and Late Checkouts will only be permitted if that is no one checking in or out on the same day as your arrival or departure. **NO AIR CONDITIONING** Because of the age of the building, Kahan Reef Condo Association has very strict rules about Air Conditioning units. They must be tankless and quiet. There are a few units that have conditioning in the 88 condos in our building. The good news is that on this part of the Island AC is really not necessary. We are fortunate to be in an area that receives Very reliable trade winds. Which keeps the condo at a nice temperature - usually (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) degrees. We knew when buying our condo that the Trade Winds blow strongly through the condo. However, there are times when the wind doesn't blow. It's rare but does happen. Being the tropics here and a bit different than what you're probably used to. The temperature averages between (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) F during the day. It is pleasant but not stifling humid heat! We have personally experienced about 3-5 "uncomfortable" days in the years we've been in the area, so I don't want to tell you it can't happen. Our ceiling fans do a great job of keeping the condo comfortable. We "Cannot" accommodate check-ins on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s days. Our cleaning company gives their staff these days off. You are more than welcome to book your stay over these dates but be aware that we may require you to check in the day before or after these dates if another guest is already arriving or departing on these holiday dates. Our condo is a legal short-term rental in the State of Hawaii and Maui. We are REQUIRED to collect Hawaii State taxes of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) % for every reservation. This consists of the Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) %, the General Excise Tax (GET) of 4%, and the Maui County Accommodations Tax of 3%. Airbnb/ (Hidden by Airbnb) and other Short Term Rental Company Charge anywhere between 12% to 18% booking and service fees. They will be in your total at check out. If you book directly with us, there are no other additional fees or charges. We do not charge resort fees, parking fees, booking, or service fees. We only charge for the room rate, cleaning fee, insurance, and credit card fees. The tax will be added to the total. You will see a line-item invoice see when you select your dates and you'll know the EXACT total cost including taxes, and cleaning fees. With Airbnb/ (Hidden by Airbnb) you will not see the fees and taxes until you check out. Some people are very amazed at the added costs. The State of Hawaii is cracking down on illegal short-term rentals and many people have had their vacation plans canceled without much recourse since the hosts were operating without permits in residential areas. This is very important as there are many short-term rentals that do not pay these taxes and will likely put your stay in jeopardy. No pets & No smoking. Your security deposit will be forfeited if either of these rules is violated. **NOTE** The State of Hawaii requires a 120-day quarantine of pets before bringing pets on the island. The State of Hawaii will turn you around at the airport if you bring a pet to the Islands without proper paperwork. There is a cleaning fee for each stay which is included in your total. We believe in paying a living wage to the maids that clean our condo. Hawaii is an expensive place to live and raise a family. We hope that you understand why our rates are what they are. We do not "markup" the cleaning fee in any manner. We discount the actual cleaning fee to help keep our guest's costs down. Our on-island management company requires that food items left in the condo be removed due to liability reasons, food allergies, health department codes, and religious or philosophical issues that may impact a guest. They will toss any perishable or questionable items left in the condo refrigerator or kitchen cupboards. Anything with sugar in it is also a problem due to the possibility that it will attract insects and pests. We make every attempt to provide the basics for your stay, including salt, pepper, cooking oil, some spices, etc. Please remember, this a vacation home and we live 2,600 miles away - we can’t always ensure exactly what’s in the condo when you get there. Food safety is important to us, and your health, and we hope you understand. We also provide coffee for your first day, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, and paper towels. We do not provide laundry detergent. Our kitchen does come fully stocked with all of the pots, pans, and utensils that you will need to cook, and we have a “Keurig" style coffee maker (makes pots of coffee and uses K-cups), blender, microwave, etc. You should strongly consider shopping for your stay in Kahului (near the airport) if you’re planning on cooking or staying for an extended period. There is a Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, Safeway, and other “big box” stores in this area. We do have many local markets in the area, and things are VERY expensive on the west side of Maui. Maui is the most expensive of all the Hawaiian Islands. You’ll probably have “sticker shock” when you see milk for $9 a gallon for the first time. PEST SPRAYING - Our Homeowners Association (HOA) for our condominium complex contracts for pest control spraying on a quarterly basis, typically the first Wednesday of February, May, August, and November. Termites are the biggest problem in Hawaii and do the most amount of damage in a relatively short amount of time. Maui is a tropical location and has a lot of unwelcome bugs, ants, termites, spiders, roaches, mosquitos, etc. WE CAN’T GUARANTEE THAT YOU WON’T SEE PESTS, MOST LIKELY YOU WILL. IT’S PART OF BEING IN A TROPICAL ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS MAUI. But our pest management company does the best it can by using “safe” pesticides to treat these bugs. The pesticides used are water-based, “pet safe” and approved for application in food-handling establishments. The pest management company usually posts a notice about a week before they are on-site, near the elevators and stairwells to let residents know the date and time that pesticides will be applied. Keep all pets, service animals, and children out of the area during the treatment and until the product has dried – usually about (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minutes. By renting our condo, you acknowledge and accept the application and use of pesticides and insecticides on the property and within our unit. As a condition of renting our unit, you will provide access to our unit when the application is scheduled. Failure to allow access to the pest management company will result in a fee of $ (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for the pest management company to return later. IF YOU’RE AT ALL CONCERNED ABOUT THE TREATMENT AND SPRAYING FOR PESTS/BUGS, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS. BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE IN HAWAII AND ALMOST EVERY HOTEL, CONDOMINIUM, AND HOMEOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION REQUIRE TREATMENT TO ENSURE THE PROTECTION OF THEIR HOME AND PROPERTY. We offer discounts for stays longer than seven days and for greater than seven days, and a larger discount for booking greater than 29 days. We offer discounts on last-minute bookings.
