Relax in a private room in a beautifully renovated Tudor-style home in Mendenhall Valley. This budget-friendly accommodation offers a double bed & a dresser in a shared 5-bed 3-bath residence. Conveniently located, it's steps from a bus stop with ample parking. Only 2.5 miles from the airport, 2 miles from Mendenhall Glacier, less than a mile from Duck Creek Market, 4.5 miles from the University of Alaska, and 6 miles from the ferry terminal. Explore the glacier via the nearby bike path & trails Relax in your private room in a nicely remodeled Tudor-style house, conveniently located in the Mendenhall Valley. This affordable accommodation is a private room in a shared five-bedroom three three-bath home. On some booking platforms, this may have a caption that indicates it is an entirely private space, but it isn't. We can't change the categories in some cases. This room is ideal for one person, therefore the advertised price is for single occupancy. Your private room in this hostel has a double bed, dresser/nightstand, and lamp. This home boasts granite countertops and large open spaces. It has three full bathrooms, a TV room, a living room, a kitchen, dining, and laundry rooms. The house is peaceful and comfortable, where people are friendly, and mostly keep to themselves. The bus stop is steps away from the front door, and the house has plenty of parking. It’s 2.5 miles from the airport, 2 miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier, less than a mile from Duck Creek Market convenience store (about a 15-minute walk), 4.5 miles from the University of Alaska, and 6 miles from the ferry terminal. Walk to the glacier on the bike path or along nearby trails that run behind the house. Aunt Margaret, lived in this house for over 30 years and always had a room for someone who needed one. Kelli has continued to keep this house available for affordable housing for long-term residents and Alaska visitors. Your private, rented room will be clean and ready for you. The condition of the house is that of reasonable living with roommates. You’ll have your shelf in the refrigerator and are welcome to use any of the supplies/equipment in the kitchen and enjoy the use of all common areas. The common areas of the house are cleaned twice per month, but not necessarily immediately before your stay. It's self check-in so a late arrival is not a problem. The door code will be provided a couple of days before your arrival. Check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is at 11 am. We will offer you early check-in and late check-out options if it's available, a couple of days before your arrival/departure for a fee of $50. Host, Kelli, happens to be a co-owner of a large tour company with over 25 tours throughout Alaska and offers a 10% discount on all tours offered by the company to her vacation rental guests. Popular tours offered in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, jeep tours, Alaska RV and Cruise tour packages, and more. If you are interested in this discount, ask Kelli for the details. Please Enjoy your stay with us! We will strive to provide the best customer service and improve as we go with feedback from our guests. We hope to earn your five-star review! Your expectations should be limited to what is promised here, and reviews should reflect how we did with these promises. Before submitting your review, please remember to base it on the following criteria and what was promised to be provided for the price paid as follows: Easy check-in process – You’ll be able to self-check in. Kelli will give you check-in details before arrival, including a lockbox code. You’ll be able to access the rental at your leisure after check-in time, at 4 pm. We offer early check-in options, if it’s available a couple of days before your arrival for $25-$50, depending on your arrival time. Great Communication – Kelli is known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions. Please text for the fastest response. You can also, call her. She’ll respond to website messages as soon as she can. Clean Accommodations – Your private apartment should be sparkling clean. Great Mendenhall Valley Location – It's steps from the city bus stop and two miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier which you can get to by car, or walking on a paved bike path or gravel trail. You can take the bus for one mile and walk the second mile. This is not a downtown Juneau property. Downtown Juneau is substantially more expensive than the Mendenhall Valley, so this location for the price should not be compared to that of downtown. If you want to be downtown and don't want to take a 45-minute bus ride to go 16 miles, then this space is not for you. Accurate Description of the Space - I try to make continuous improvements when guests make suggestions and do my best to keep the changes updated and published. If I missed something please let me know, so I can update the information. If you are missing something you were counting on, please let me know immediately, so I can try to provide it for your stay. Great Value – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season, and while this is a more affordable option, we understand that it can seem expensive. Part of the value is the ability to rent for only one night and have an additional person. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have to charge more when the business is there so that we can afford to have it vacant for long, slow periods. Private guest room and all common areas of the house. Self-check in with a lock box, so late check-in is not a problem. You'll be given the lock box code a few days before your arrival. Check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is at 11 am. We will offer you early check-in and late check-out options if it's available, a couple of days before your arrival/departure for a fee of $25-$50 depending on your desired schedule and availability. The host does not live on the property but is available when needed. Text for the fastest response. Mendenhall Glaier Taxis and Ride Share options are available as well as the city bus. Walk out of the driveway and turn left. The bus stop is steps away on your left. Mendenhall Loop Road and Valley Boulevard (stop code 437) Or cross the street and the bus stop is on the left. Mendenhall Loop Road and Mendenhall Boulevard (stop code 471) TV: The TV is in the room next to the entryway on the right. It has a Roku streaming device. We don't have cable so don't try to scroll through channels. The Roku remote can be used to power the TV on as well as to navigate to your apps. Once you power on the TV using the upper right power button, hit the button for your desired app on the Roku remote, or hit the home button to take you to the app screen. If the remote doesn’t work, there should be extra batteries in a small tray on the TV stand. If it doesn't work, make sure the TV has power (the cord is securely plugged into the outlet as well as the TV). Once the TV has power, make sure the Roku has power and is connected to the TV. Find the Roku box, follow the cord to the TV HDMI input, and ensure it is securely connected. Follow the other cord and make sure it is plugged into the extension cord outlet. Also, make sure the brick that the Roku power cord is plugged into (the device that plugs into the extension cord outlet) is a Roku Brick. It will be black. Food Storage: You have a labeled shelf in the refrigerator (numbers are on the right side of the shelf) and the freezer. Any food that is on a shelf that is not labeled is for common use. If you don’t see a shelf labeled with your room number, you should store your pantry items in your private room to ensure they don’t get consumed by other occupants. Trash: The white trash bin in the kitchen is for recycling only. Please only put CLEAN paper, cardboard, cans, and plastic at least as thick as a water bottle. No glass, plastic bags, pizza boxes, or any unclean items should go in that bin. It will create a bear problem when disposed of in a non-bearproof can. When either trash bin gets full, please take it to the shed closest to the house. Recyclables go in the can with the blue lid and all other trash goes in the can with the black lid.
