Calling seekers of adventure and authenticity! Stay in this beautiful tropical chic room (w/private bath) on our budding farmstead for a grounded yet elegant hosted experience immersed in the natural beauty of Hilo's hidden upcountry gem with soaring views of both Mauna Kea and the pacific. Mahalo for choosing us for your stay! - 40 Minutes to Volcanoes National Park - 15 minutes to downtown Hilo/markets - 10 minutes to Rainbow Falls - 20 minutes to beaches - 40 minutes to Akaka Falls Stay with us for a unique hosted experience with my partner and I who genuinely enjoy getting to know travelers and sharing insider island tips. We have fantastic clean and crisp mountain air quality and are in a stunning, tranquil, and lush area just 15 minutes from downtown that feels a world away from busy commercial tourism. This is real Hawaii and we have a much cooler and comfortable temperature compared to lower elevations because we are up mountain. You will have access to the whole house as well as the garden where you are welcome to feed the chickens! The room is bright and airy in the day and is front stage to the nightly coqui frog concert. I find that the house manages to feel as both jungle-like and the farm house that it was built to be. Your room has a comfortable queen bed with crisply cleaned linens and a private full bathroom right next door that is equipped with essential toiletries and plush towels. There is also a couch in this room to sit and relax while you plan your days. Comfortable patio furniture on our large wrap-around lanai is positioned perfectly to soak up the incredible, lush, panoramic views of Mauna Kea all the way to the Pacific ocean. By day, watch native songbirds play amongst indigenous O’hia and banana trees rustling in the cool upcountry breeze. By night you can relax and unwind while listening to the harmonies and choruses of the coqui frogs and their adorable calls! In the morning you will have access to coffee, tea. You may also bring breakfast foods to prepare for yourself but we ask that no meat is cooked in the kitchen. Cooked meat dishes from restaurants is okay. You’ll have your room as well as the living room, kitchen, dining area, lanai, and garden for your use. We will be sharing the home so we will be there to chat, answer any questions you have about the island, and give recommendations. We care about your experience here and want to make sure you have the best possible time! We are both very friendly and outgoing. We are open to talking story and telling you our favorite places to go and have a lot of knowledge to share. In your room is an adventure guide also to help you plan your stay on this side and around the whole island. Being 15 minutes up mountain from Hilo means that its a pleasant few degrees cooler up here. Also, we are close enough to downtown for food, parks, shops, and nightlife to be a short drive away and far enough outside of it to be quiet and separate from the hum and buzz. A rental car from the airport or an active Uber account will be necessary to get to and from our space. We can pick you up from the airport for a small fee. We have three grey cats: Mandala, Koa, and Kua. Not only are they the best cats ever but they're also super friendly and outgoing. Mostly outdoor living but they come in for cuddles and food. We have a chicken flock on property as well and they are so much fun! We have neighbors in the downstairs section of the house as well. We ask that you are considerate of noise after 10PM and that you do not go down to the lower half of the house for their privacy. Mahalo!
