Sunrise Ridge is a beautiful log cabin with a lovely wood interior, comfortable seating, a gas fireplace, and gorgeous views through numerous windows in the home. Three bedrooms, each with comfy beds, allow guests to enjoy their personal privacy. In the loft, a futon converts to a double bed and the very large windows provide the best views in the cabin. A full bathroom is located upstairs and downstairs. The amenities in the kitchen and an outdoor charcoal grill make meal preparation a breeze. There are three porches, one covered, with plenty of seating for friends and family. Guests can continue to enjoy outdoor activities regardless of the weather. Spend an evening stargazing, relaxing in the hot tub, or gathered around a campfire. Adequate parking exists right in front of the cabin and allows space for enjoying a fabulous view. There is a set of stairs leading to the cabin entrance and upon entry, your adventure begins. The host is available and very responsive via phone and e-mail. A rugged mountain road leads to the cabin and an area of beauty and solitude. If you are not an experienced mountain driver, a four-wheel-drive or All Wheel Drive vehicle is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Enjoy the fabulous view and look for Bryson City in the valley. When you can tear yourself away, plan a visit to Bryson City for great shopping, dining, and maybe visits to several microbreweries. Check out the Smoky Mountain Railway and schedule a ride through the beautiful mountains or visit a portion of the Smoky Mountain National Park at Deep Creek where an easy waterfalls trail can even accommodate a child's stroller. Beyond Bryson City, don't miss making an excursion to Nantahala Gorge for picnicking, fishing, kayaking, or rafting. In the opposite direction, Cherokee and the main entrance to SMNP offer endless opportunities for exploring, hiking, birding, and park-sponsored programs. There is also a casino, movie theater, restaurants, and shopping in Cherokee. Asheville is a little more than an hour away and is a great place to experience art and culture, fine dining, and the Biltmore mansion. With so much to do, you will not finish it all...but plan to visit again soon! The road to Sunrise Ridge is an authentic, rugged MOUNTAIN road. If you are not an experienced mountain driver, a four-wheel-drive or All Wheel Drive vehicle is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Also, arriving before dark on your arrival day would be helpful for your first trip up the mountain. The one and a half mile road up the mountain is narrow, partially paved/partially gravel, one lane, with switchbacks, and steep in parts. Near the top, after an elevation gain of about 1500 feet, reflectors have been placed to guide you in the dark. Drive at a slow to moderate speed, keeping a steady pace. Follow the Sunrise Ridge signs and keep climbing until you reach the sign that points into the driveway of your cabin retreat. Additional directional details will be provided on your arrival day.
