This attractively renovated camp in the High Peaks region of western Maine is the perfect place to get away and unplug. Surrounded by conservation land, the camp is airy and bright, with views opening onto woods and stream, and is well screened. Solar panels provide water and electricity. There's limited satellite internet service for emailing and texting, and sometimes phone through wifi, depending on your service provider. 2 Streams Camp features a living room/kitchen area with wood stove, one bedroom with queen bed, and a full bath with shower. The kitchen has new propane appliances (stove and fridge) and is equipped to produce simple meals. There is also a charcoal grill. Fresh linens are provided. Guests bring their own food and drinks. The deck overlooks a class-A trout stream which is also a signature Atlantic salmon restoration habitat. Bring your hiking boots, mountain bike and fishing rod to explore the woods and streams of this working forest near Saddleback Mountain, or day hike the most beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. The entire cabin and its grounds are available exclusively to our guests. We spend much of the summer and early fall at our other camp a mile up the hill, and are always available to our guests otherwise by phone. Our neighborhood is a conservation woodland and recreational area for hunters, fishermen and ATVs. The camp is close to, but not visible from, a major ATV trail which on holiday weekends can be busy. Rangeley and the Rangeley Lakes are 45 minutes away for more hiking, canoeing and restaurants. There are several small towns and villages within 45 minutes-- each with its own character. Two well known ski areas, Saddleback and Sugarloaf, are also nearby. Guide service is available for hiking, fishing, and day hikes on the nearby Appalachian Trail. The closest public transportation is at Augusta (bus lines and commuter air), and Portland, for bus, Amtrak and airlines. We are 2 1/2 hours from Portland by car, 4 1/2 hours from Boston, and 1 1/2 hours from Augusta. We ask our guests to arrive before dark, in order to navigate the roads in daylight. The camp is accessed by a logging road, one mile off a town maintained gravel road. It is close to, but not visible from the access road.
