We welcome medical staff and students. Located at 4 major Hospitals and minutes away from several neighboring hospital systems.. Location ! Location! Location! Nestled amongst the trees, this 1930's complex is part of Belhaven Historic District, only minutes from medical centers, museums, Fondren arts, eats and beats. With easy access to I-55 it is a 15 minute drive or less to major shopping centers and Jackson suburbs. This apartment is furnished with many of the belongings of the owners who spend most of their retirement time these days in Belize. So you immediately feel like you are sharing a home, not just renting a space. The natural light pours through the large windows which wrap around the entire apartment, surrounded by oaks, magnolias, and crepe myrtle trees. The back deck over looks a courtyard full of greenery, walking paths, sitting areas that are enjoyed by all the folks living in the "Compound". A stroll through the Behlhaven neighborhood is a delight for the architecturally and historically minded. We provide: extra linen towels coffee and creamer kitchen ware and tools television wireless internet iron washer/dryer We use access codes to enter the unit and will send you the codes closer to your arrival, after the confirmation of your booking. Our guests are welcome to use all common areas, including the large courtyard and the front porch, good evening sits and quiet chats. We, Jane and David, do not live on the compound year round. We live multiple months in Belize. When we are stateside, we occupy one of the "Hobbit Holes" (ground level efficiency apartments by the courtyard. We have 3 permanent tenants and an on-site Host. This property is part of the Belhaven Historic District. A stroll to the neighborhood will walk you back in time. The architecture from house to house is so interesting and charming. There are sidewalks throughout but many a tree has long grown over, up and even through them. So watch your step! Belhaven University is embedded in the heart of the neighborhood. Eudora Welty's home is a treasure and a very interesting stop along the stroll. Newstage Theatre and several exceptional restaurants on the periphery. Just across State Street from the property is Millsaps College. If your stay is extended you may like to take in one of their Adult Enrichment classes. At the top of the hill is Fondren, another artsy neighborhood, which support more fabulous food and many public events throughout the year. Just a little further South on State Street is the central business district of the city. There you will find new night clubs and multiple museums, including the outstanding recently opened Civil Rights and Mississippi History Museums. This property is across the street from Millsaps College and 3 blocks to Belhaven. All the Fondren Area fun is less than a mile, an easy walk north on State Street. . UMMC is within walking distance. Baptist Premiere Medical center is less than a mile south on State Street. Easy access to I-55 makes getting anywhere in the metro area about a 15 minute trip. The new Eastover District just across I-55 is full of great food and shopping. For all day shopping fun, Dogwood Festival is short drive east on Lakeland Drive, and The Renaissance at Ridgeland is a few minutes north on I-55. And don't forget Mississippi's great museum Downtown Jackson along with great restaurants and clubs. This is a unique property. The back of the property is buffered by a private alley and a 4 garage bay building. The garage studio is occupied by David's son, John David who is a master of many trades. Much of the garage space is a workshop. Separating the "Big House" from the workshop is a large courtyard, with multiple sitting and eating areas, should you want to stroll down from your Tree House and enjoy a drink or take your meal. There is one more "family member" with a unique story too long for this pace. That is Boz (short for Bosco, the chocolate standard poodle). He lives in the lower "Hobbit Hole" with his human. He is about 6 years old, funny and friendly. The tenants love him and often invite him up to their space. That is not expected of our Airbnb guest, and your deck can be closed off. However, he may make an appearance in the courtyard from time to time. Angel will accommodate any requests for guest about monitoring his presence while you are enjoying the courtyard.
