Welcome Bienvenu. Ici en parle en francais. Petite Anse means “Little Cove” in Louisiana French. This particular bayou runs along the west side of Avery Island (Tabasco Factory) before flowing into Vermillion Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. In the 19th century schooners regularly ascended the bayou to pick up loads of salt and sugar to transport to New Orleans and other ports. Bayou Petite Anse is still used today by recreational and commercial boaters seeking access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Vermillion Bay. Our T-Maison Colline is 2 blocks from the banks of the bayou approximately 1000 ft away as it crosses Hwy 14 at Bayou Petite Anse bridge. We are a local family that loves to travel, but always enjoys it when we are told about local sights, activities, festivals, food, things to do. It adds so much to the enjoyment of our trip. We decided to share some of the things we enjoy doing and places to eat in our Cajun rich community. Having owned a campground business for 15 years we have a knowledge and immense enjoyment of tourism. I have never been told that I DO NOT HAVE a gift of gab. Promoting our Cajun Country gives me much pleasure. Helping you have a good time like we say here, “Le Joire De Vie” makes us happy. Married for over 50 years and both semi-retired gives us time to do things we never had time to do while raising our children. Known as Gigi and Pappy to our family, friends and locals. We hope you enjoy your stay and find out tiny house well equipped, comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. Our hopes are that you tell others and return for a visit with us again. We hope your memories of your trip and your visit with us at T-Maison sur la Colline will be with you forever. Our quiet retreat is located in the country where you will experience peace and relaxation with views of our farm and you may get to have morning coffee or evening cocktail sitting on our back porch watching our horses graze on the pasture grass making their daily walk around the farm. A nice tiny warm fire pit and a soft throw will add to the coziness. Beautiful views. Located on a tiny hill with walk up steps our tiny house is located just minutes away from all of New Iberia’s attractions and delicious Cajun Food and many restaurants. Our City hosts the sweetest, saltiest and hottest. Known for our sugar cane mills, salt mines, hot pepper sauces. Our seafood industry where you can purchase fresh shrimp right off the boat docks in Delcambre, La. Is only 5 minutes from our retreat. Let’s not forget the rice industry. Konricko Rice is the oldest rice mill in America and besides the tour you can experience many delicious products to take home with you. Avery Island, Tabasco Factory, Jungle Gardens is 15 minutes away. Rip Van Winkle Gardens, Joe Jefferson Mansion and Café’ Jefferson is 5 miles down the road from us. We have so many authentic Cajun Restaurants to choose from as well as those with a Spanish influence since New Iberia was founded by the Spaniards in the spring of 1779. I would be more than happy to recommend and send you in the right direction. Just ask. If you are interested in museum, old homes a tour of the Shadows on the Teche and a slow walk down Main Street to see all the beautiful architecture that will leave you with a lasting impression. Host to many festivals New Iberia is a place you want to visit with all the rich culture and history. We hope you enjoy your stay with us and tell others about our little hidden treasure. Come back y’all Reviens….Cher.
