Casita Miraflores: our family’s private 6 acre getaway for desert sun, mountain views, star filled nights, nature walks, wildlife, and nearby Tucson area activities. The private drive winds through the desert to our one bedroom sanctuary featuring a full kitchen and bath, large outdoor soaking tub and lush outdoor patio spaces with landscaped plantings, shade trees, and nature trails. A peaceful retreat for comfortably connecting with nature and yourself, and it’s yours with a min 30 day stay! Casita Miraflores and the adjacent property is completely fenced and surrounded by multi-acre estates ensuring security, privacy, and natural open space. This unique experience is like being in your very own nature retreat! Yet, our simple, comfortable and clean casita is close to markets, restaurants, and other conveniences! Daily walks around the 6 acre property (we love a morning stroll with a cup of coffee) on the winding trails become ritual as you say hello to your new old friends, the birds, bunnies, and spectacular Sonoran flora. Within a 4 mile drive or bike ride you will find yourself in beautiful Catalina State Park or Honey Bee Canyon for world class trails, views, and even a plunge in a seasonal stream:) Or perhaps exploring the culturally diverse and colorful city of Tucson is your next adventure! Either way, upon your return to Miraflores, a large outdoor soaking tub awaits on the sunset facing porch! With therapeutic salts and perhaps a candle or two, take your time to relax and refresh. Have a fire in the chiminea while watching the magic play of light, shadow, and color at sunset. The well equipped kitchen and barbecue is yours to create whatever suits your mood, and the on site washer/dryer keeps you ready for the next adventure. Guide books, novels, and a nice collection of DVDs are there too. And you will sleep well on the comfy queen bed. We hope you will enjoy your stay at our rustic and relaxed home in the Sonoran desert, and that you will experience the healing energy and beauty that is so abundant here. WiFi is available. The entire space and property is yours to roam and enjoy! Access is easy yet very private, and the casita is the only residence on the property! We are available by phone, text or email should you have any questions or need assistance:) Casita Miraflores is perfectly located on the northwestern edge of Oro Valley surrounded by 6 acres of lush Sonoran desert and larger estate/horse properties. No street lights here! Though the property feels rural and surrounded by Nature, the conveniences of town are just a 5-15 minute drive: post office, library, grocery stores, farmer’s markets, drug stores, restaurants, etc. We are also just a few miles from a modern hospital and emergency room. Recreational opportunities abound with a 10-20 minute drive to hiking, aquatic centers, golf, tennis, resorts, spas, and gardens. Bike trails both paved and dirt abound, and driving to Tucson proper, UA, Biosphere 2, or the Desert Museum is an easy 30 minute drive on great roads and/or I-10. Tucson International Airport is approximately 35 minutes away. You are also well located for a 90 minute trip to the Phoenix area or Canyon Lake! Day trips to wine country, Sedona, and infamous old west towns await in nearly every direction. Then, after a fun day of adventuring, return to your peaceful retreat for a gorgeous sunset with the Catalina Mountains glowing pink and purple and perhaps indulge in a warm bath in our 2 person patio tub! Ahhhh…. The casita has easy and roomy parking. From the airport it’s a breeze to rent a car right at the terminal, and the prices are quite reasonable online. We like to use Costco Travel for their good rates. You will want a comfortable car or SUV for all of your adventures! You can also catch Uber, Lyft, or a taxi from the airport or in Oro Valley to get wherever you want to go. If you like to bike, Oro Valley’s roads are excellent for biking with many paths and good visibility. There is also public bus service. The desert is beautiful, but also fragile and easily degraded. We ask that you care for all of the plants and animals on the property like they are family. Be watchful for Charlie, our local rattlesnake friend who makes an appearance now and again. He keeps the pack rat population in check! Also, an extra amount of respect for cactus as you walk the property will save you from getting “bit” by their very sharp spines. Native Americans here say that one should always keep their eyes one step ahead of their feet! :)
