The Cottage at the Red Barn
Welcome to the Cottage! This ~216 square foot cottage overlooks a restored barn on a rural 5-acre property located in the farmlands of Oregon's central valley. Enter the detached cottage through your own private door to find a memory foam-covered queen bed, your own closet and private bathroom with hot shower, a small refrigerator, hot water kettle and basic tea/coffee-making facilities. This updated cottage is perfect for those who want a peaceful, countryside retreat with modern amenities. We welcome you to our rural retreat, surrounded by local wineries and farmland. This historic property was settled by the Williams family in the 1800s, and a WWII-era home and restored barn grace the property along with a greenhouse, extensive garden, fruit trees and hazelnut orchard. Guests have their own updated private cottage detached from the main home, though we welcome you to share the deck and stroll around the yard and garden (though please check with us before harvesting). There are gravel parking spaces for your vehicle just outside the cottage, and we are happy to give you a quick tour of the barn should you be interested! As your hosts, we live in the main house, which is detached from the cottage but shares a yard and deck. Though we may or may not be present on the property during the entirety of your stay, we are happy to answer any questions you have via text and will do our best to accommodate requests as they arise. You may see us on the property, tending to the garden and grounds, and will likely encounter the resident dogs (a friendly Weimaraner, boxer and small mutt). We love to chat with fellow travelers, and are happy to provide local recommendations! Please note this is a rural location! The area surrounding the Cottage at the Red Barn is predominantly farmland with no close neighbors or glaring streetlights, though there are multiple wineries and hiking destinations within an easy drive. The city of Corvallis is an approximately 20-minute drive south of the property, and the city of Monmouth is an approximately 15-minute drive north of the property. If you’re looking for something in town, we suggest an alternative booking. If you’re looking for something in the country a bit, we’ve got you covered! Given the rural location of the farm, we recommend that visitors have a personal vehicle or be prolific bicyclists. Cars can easily be parked on the property. The country roads lack sidewalks and in many cases a walkable shoulder, though the gravel road that borders the farm makes for a pleasant stroll through farmlands. Please note that there are horses on the property. While guests are welcome to say hi from a distance, please do not enter the enclosure, feed or pet the horses. We want to keep both guests and animals safe.
