You can easily walk to Everybody's Brewery, Pixan, Feast, Hennis, White Salmon Baking Co, pharmacy, hardware, etc. However, this also means that we are on the main street that runs through downtown White Salmon. White Salmon is a tiny town, but there is thru-traffic, and you will hear the traffic in the Studio, especially on weekday mornings for the work bustle, including logging trucks as we are smack in the middle of two national forests (but it does quiet down in the evenings). Please understand this before you book the Studio, as we want happy guests! The bridge that connects Hood River and White Salmon is a toll bridge, which is $3.50 (Bridge of the Gods is a toll bridge as well). Be sure to remember to have cash in your car if you plan on exploring both areas. If you cross at The Dalles (or come from the WA side via Vancouver WA), there is no toll. If you are here for an extended stay, it is worth it to get "BreezeBy" for $1.75 each way. No smoking in the home, but you are welcome to smoke outside on your private deck accessible from the kitchen. We recycle and compost! There is a recycling bin in the kitchen closet with instructions on what gets recycled. The compost bin is at the back of the yard in the alley. Alaffia fair-trade shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion and face soap/face lotion provided. Linens include soft towels and high-quality linen sheets along with a down comforter, cotton duvet, and two types of pillow options. The mattress is a queen Stearns & Foster. The location is perfect for us! We love that we can walk to a great brewery, a couple of really good restaurants, an amazing bakery and a pretty dang good grocery store in one direction. And then walking behind our home you will find a sweet neighborhood with cottages, bungalows and anything in-between! You will find a basketball hoop on the street, deer meandering around, happy people chilling out, majestic oak trees looking over everyone, the most incredible view of Mt Hood that doesn't even look real and even our own little White Salmon mountain views too! We park right in front of our home with a sidewalk to our front door and a sidewalk to the "White Salmon Studio" front door. There is also parking behind our home (just drive around the cones). Sometimes we have deer that hang out in the yard and lots of backyard wildlife. Amtrak has a stop in Bingen right down the hill and you can also Uber on over to Hood River. We have a strict No-Pet Policy. We are located on the main street of downtown. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay or are a light sleeper, please know we are close to the street. You will hear street noise (traffic) and sometimes larger noisy trucks, especially on weekday mornings for the work bustle (but it does quiet down in the evenings). We do have black-out window coverings available if you are light-sensitive.
