Welcome to Alaska's longest running and most popular Hostel. At Billie's Hostel, you are sure to have a wonderful unique Alaska experience. Billie was born and raised in Fairbanks and has lived in this location more than 50 years. She personally welcomes guest from all over the world, where they meet, share travel adventures, and create lasting memories. It is here that you will be made to feel right at home no matter where you are from or where you are going. This is cozy private room with a single bed. Guests in this room share a bathroom with other guests The room, located up one flight of stairs, is in the hostel's Main Dorm area. There are two other dorm rooms upstairs, but this room is private (it has its own door). The hostel is open 24/7. There is no curfew. A security code is provided to gain access to the hostel dormitories and interior common spaces. Guests have access to the main part of the hostel, which includes:the main bathroom, full kitchen, dining area, common room with television, and indoor sitting areas. Outdoors, guests may enjoy the hostel grounds and gardens with shaded pavilions and pergola, picnic tables and barbecue during our Summer months and aurora viewing during Winter. (Yes, if the aurora is active and the sky is clear, you can see the Northern Lights from the hostel!) Since Billie lives here, you will meet her -- and very likely many of her extended family and friends. This is also a great place to meet other travelers from all over the world who are exploring Fairbanks and interior Alaska. Remember, this is a HOSTEL, intended to provide accommodation for those traveling, and as such ALL spaces are SHARED (except private rooms). Please do your best to help keep it clean, tidy and respectful of other travelers. The Hostel is ideally located in a quiet residential neighborhood located one block from the city bus routes. We are within walking distance of the University of Alaska, The Museum of the North, Coffee Shops, Convenience Store, pubs, Pizza, Several Eateries, Beaver Sports, Health Food Store, Hot Licks Ice Cream, The Farmers Market, State Fair, and much more! Use the interactive map on the 'Guidebook' for more details. There is plenty of off-street parking at the hostel. Most tour companies will pick you up and drop you back off at here. MACS Transit is our local bus system. Bus stops for the RED and BLUE lines are one block from Billie's. Those buses connect to a system that will enable travel to most of the city and North Pole (Santa Claus House). Buses are available Monday - Saturday (Saturday schedules are reduced). NO BUSES on Sundays. Both Uber and Lyft are also available, as are Taxi's. We are open every day of the year. Reservations are highly recommended especially in the busy summer months. We are happy to accommodate late-night check-ins (after 9pm) but we ask that you let us know your approximate arrival time so that we can let you know what to do when you arrive. IMPORTANT -> If you are planning to check in between the hours of midnight and 7am, then make sure you are reserving the previous day as the first day of your reservation, otherwise your bed will not be available until after 10am. Billie will attempt to separate men/women, but we are a small hostel and most times that is not practical - especially during the busy summer months.
