DETAILS ABOUT THE SPACE: The entire ground floor of this split-level home is yours to enjoy during your stay - one bedroom, one bathroom, a full kitchen, and living room. Your completely private entrance is around the back of the home and down a few steps, providing a wealth of privacy. The bedroom has a comfy queen bed, with an additional queen hide-a-bed couch in the living room, sleeping four comfortably. The full size washer and dryer are also available for you to use during your stay. Reach over the side fence to give a few pets to the owners' sweet Golden Retriever Kina if you happen to spot her, borrow a book from the large and fabulously eclectic library, or borrow the paddle boards or bikes for a fun day at the lake! Need to unwind? Sink into the plush couch and enjoy a movie (or 2!) with the provided Roku remote. CLEANING: As a courtesy to guests, all soft surfaces are sanitized before arrival in addition to the cleaning services provided. I am dedicated to making sure my cleaning support receives a livable wage, and unlike many properties, 100% of the cleaning fee goes directly to her. You can book with confidence knowing that you are supporting a small, local business! The upstairs tenants work hard to respectfully keep noise to a minimum between 10pm & 10am, and while some soft sound transfer occurs from time to time, I kindly ask the same quiet hours of all my guests to foster both a peaceful retreat and a stepping stone to adventure for everyone! This is a smoke-free household (including vaping), so you can breathe easy here! The tenants upstairs keep the home central temperature moderate, and there is a space heater and fan provided so you can make the temperature ideal for yourself. “Bother-free Goodbye”: There is nothing that drags a happy goodbye to a disheartened one more quickly than a long laundry list of chores. When you stay here, all aspects of washing up are figured into the cleaning cost so you are never surprised with any chores before you leave! RECOMMENDATIONS: Lake Forest Park is a lovely neighborhood with lots of well preserved, towering pine trees. The home is a 3 minute drive from North City's charming restaurants, cafes, breweries, and stores, plus the amazing independent Crest Movie Theatre. The fabulous Lake Washington, Third Place Books, and Burke-Gilman trail are just 5 minutes east, downtown Edmonds, St. Edwards park and hiking trails, and the ferries to Whidbey Island all only a 15 minute ride away. Need a stretch of the legs? The 80-acre Hamlin Park a short walk down the street. Just 15 minutes from downtown, or the UW light rail station, we're in a great location for day trips to the many spectacular Northwest attractions, and offer easy access to and from I-5. STAIRS: There is one short flight of stairs that lead to your entrance. The entire space is on the ground floor, so no stairs to navigate beyond that point. The property owners live in the separate, upstairs half of the house, but I am your main point of contact for any questions or needs that arise. Surrounded by tall, gorgeous pines down each street, this suburban city boasts all the best features of Washington living! Quiet and safe neighborhood, just perfect for an afternoon stroll. Easy access for cars. If you prefer to travel by bus, there is a bus stop conveniently located at the intersection of 168th street and 15th Ave NE (15th Ave NE & NE 168th St. Stop ID: 77510) a brief walk up the street. There are also 2 mountain bikes available on the property for your use during your stay. MISC: Late checkouts can usually be arranged ahead of time and for an additional fee (up to $100 depending on the amount of additional time) - please reach out if you are interested in a late check out and I'll do everything I can to accommodate you! You will see 2 doors in the space that connect to the upper level of the house which remain locked at all times. In the unlikely event of the circuit breaker tripping, the upstairs tenants would reach out to you for brief access to the kitchen area where the house breaker box is located. Please note: the property owner may reach out to you to coordinate a convenient time for them to use the washer and dryer as they are the only ones in the home. SALSA CLASSES: The owner usually has a weekly salsa class upstairs, Thursdays approximately 6:30pm – 9:00pm, sometimes on Sundays approximately 11:00am - 2:00pm, and a once-monthly class on the first Friday of each month from approximately 6:30pm – 9:00pm. Please be aware: you may hear the music, and some creaking through the floors at those times. It is not excessively loud, but you will likely hear the movement. No refunds will be given if the noise bothers you - I respectfully ask that you plan accordingly for your stay! - If you have some previous dance experience and are interested in joining a class, you can coordinate this during your stay! REQUIREMENT FOR DOGS: We have had just a couple instances with guests whose dogs become unexpectedly anxious when being left alone in a new space for long periods of time, and it lead to excessive barking. My goal is to make everyone's experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible - especially for your pups! In light of this, if I do receive noise complaints of long periods of barking, I will require you to take your dog with you if you leave for extended periods, coordinate outside doggy day care, or use a humane bark-deterring collar if that is preferable.
