Keep it simple at this peaceful cabin in the woods; located on a backwater bay of the great Mississippi River. Located just 10-20 minutes from everything, it's a perfect getaway for an outdoorsy couple or small family. With unbelievable sunsets & the best swimming hole for miles, you won't ever need to leave this ultra-private oasis. Available any time of the year. Be sure to bring your boat, you wouldn't want to miss exploring the river for 20+ miles. We are located pretty far back in the woods, with a mile long private driveway. We actually live on the property too. We are in the main house and the guest cabin is about 200 yards away, with its own little driveway and everything. The guest house is open. Key should be in the door. Please only lock the dead bolt when leaving. Both the main house and the guest house are on the water. We each have our own dock, but for now, we ask you to use our dock instead of the one at the guest cabin, as it’s still under construction. We are around on and off as my husband works from home. We have two children- 10 year old Penelope and 8 year old Finnlee that are very social and would love to interact with your littles or furry kids. We are happy to provide recomendations or suggestions about a variety of interests and activities in the area. On your way in- getting close… Before you reach Merrifield- you will drive thru the town of Baxter and/or Brainerd. It is around here that you will find the “big box” stores, like Costco and Walmart, Target, Aldi. You will likely drive thru Baxter first-then over to Brainerd; East Brainerd has a grocery store too. So it’s your call - where and when you decide to stop. It’s just that Merrifield (our little town) (North of both Brainerd & Baxter) only has a gas station, a dollar general, a post office and a few bar-restaurants. So- if you were planning to pick up groceries or anything forgotten on your way, then you may want to stop before you get all the way here. We are about 9 miles from the nearest grocery store. I mean- it’s not that far- obviously you could always stop and see the place first -and then head back into town after you’ve gotten the “lay of the land” if you prefer. I just wanted you to know- that you will drive right by all of it on your way TO the cabin. Also there are liquor stores all along the way, if you’re interested in that. There is space at the guest cabin to park multiple vehicles or travel trailers. At the Guest Cabin - We do have a nice concrete patio with a table and chairs and a sun umbrella. We do have a full kitchen, an outdoor grill & charcoal for you to use. We’ve already got firewood chopped & ready. There are basic condiments and spices available- for you guys to use-I.e. ketchup, mustard, bbq, ranch…salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, chili powder, etc. We also have soaps and other full size toiletries already stocked and available to use, for anyone that either forgot something or would rather not pack these general items. Also- there is an Ice Maker in the fridge, a medium-size hard cooler for you to use while you’re here, if you guys ever want to pack lunches for your days out and about. We also have a standard size washing machine & a clothing dryer (and soap to go along with it) free of charge.
